Haha, thanks. I had a bit of a punk music stage last year... started with Good Charlotte (I feel embarassed) but then progressed into Rancid and the Misfits, etc. Hehe. So, yeah, I'm familiar with this kind of music.

I used to love AFI until my parents found out, After that I found out the lead vocalist thought he was God and had his own church. Eek! Now I don;t listen to music.

Speaking of Anti-Flag, I remember spotting a really pretty girl out in the pews while candle bearing. She was wearing an Anti-Flag shirt and then we both just turned our heads and looked at each other. The next week it happened AGAIN but I was holding the bowl of holy water and almost splashed the pastor because I had my head turned. :rolling: The next week I found out she was enrolled i one of my classes. :rolling: I don't do that anymore. :P

Bad Religion: I've heard a little but what I've heard so far sounds good and I tried some band called Millencollin a while back.

Misfits have just plain HORRIBLE lyrics about murdering kids, burning bodies, and raping people's wives.

Not so much now, but I like smooth Japanese rock and Korean hip hop now...

But anyway, Catholic Punk? Nah, ain't gonna happen...

Not all of the songs, but I don't listen to them anymore. I didn't listen to them very often, and I only listened to about two songs... never anything about murdering people or burning bodies or raping people though. I was just trying to come up with an example and the Misfits was the first band that came to mind... NoFX is probably a better example of someone I listened to more often. They're not the best examples, either, but I don't listen to them anymore, either. LOL. I don't listen to punk rock or punk too often anymore. Some mainstream pop-rock punk-ish bands every now and then, but my CD player consists of six CDs... four Catholic and two not. So, don't worry about me listening to anything horrible like some of the darker Misfits stuff. I'm a good kid, I promise.

Hehe. I'm enjoying this... who else did I like... I liked Brody Armstrong a lot for a while. I was big on the Distillers. I liked the Ramones a LOT. But both of them are rock-for-choice. On a lighter side, I liked Green Day - also rock-for-choice. I loved Fat Mike (rock-for-choice AGAIN), so I liked NoFX, as I said above, and Me First and the Gimme Gimmes. I liked the Pistols. :) My stuff was mostly newer stuff. The oldest I liked was probably the Ramones and the Pistols... and Iggy Pop and the Stooges... also rock-for-choice. Aaargh!

Why do you keep attacking me? I mean, seriously, do you really think I listened to a song called Fun Things to ****? I've never even heard of that song, and I certainly wouldn't listen to it.

Perhaps I'm being melodramatic, but twice it has seemed as though you are attacking me. I will just drop it, but please try to make sure that you make it clear that you're bashing the music and not the person.

There is Catholic Hip-Hop, so why not Catholic Punk. I think it is one of those things waiting to happen. It is however, hard to balance the two. It is also hard to balance your life as a Catholic, be Holy, but not Falsely Pious, be Angery, but don't mix it with Sin, be self-controlled, but not Controlling...So it seems that if someone (ora band) came along, understanding those things, it could happen.

But Why?

Well if there ever was such a thing, it'd probably be filed under Catholic "rock" and not "punk", so it's probably lost in the shuffle. Punk is just a subgenre after all.

But if there ever was, I don't think it would be able to fill all of Oik's above points and sound like "real" punk music. If it did it, would probably sound like pop punk like Good Charolette or New Found Glory or something.

You might want to take a listen to these guys. They're German but their site looks very California. Go figger. The band's name is Outer Fringe and the link is http://www.outerfringe.net/

It could also be surf punk, rockabilly, psychobilly, ska-punk, reggae-punk, or punk rap. There are several different categories it could be, however, all those pretty much fall under "punk".
