Feeling low and frustrated

I didn't get the job I was interviewed for last Thursday. I wouldn't mind so much if my interviewers hadn't all but assured me I had it - they were even asking when I could bring in the documentation for my police check and saying they wanted to process it as soon as possible. The interview appeared to go so well. So it was a bit of a shock when I got a phone call today: "We don't want to use you for the contracted position but if you're interested we'll put you on our relief register." The relief register is to cover contracted staff who are ill or on leave or to provide extra support in busy times, so there is no definite work. I've been trying to accept this as a grace. This is the sort of uncertainty that many people have to live with, and as someone who will hopefully take a vow of holy poverty it is good for me to share in their experience. But my self-confidence has still taken a knock, as a.) most of my applications aren't even turning into interviews and b.) it's hard to see what more I could have done in that interview. Swallowed fire? Juggled? Danced the hula?

I know that "all things work together for the good of those who love Him". Pray that I may be reassured of it in my low moments. :)
