My oldest friend lost his wife of almost 30 years this week. Her funeral was yesterday. I never got to meet her. Louis and I lived a block apart growing up. We both went to the same parochial school then public high school. We spent huge amounts of time together. The last two years of high school I was in advanced math and science to get ready for college and he took the votech side.

In a time before smart phones and social media, losing touch was easy. Facebook has allowed me to reclaim some of that. Engaging again in someone's life means engaging in the good and in the sorrow.
