Pia Jesu
The Cistercian nuns of Prairie du Sac, Wisconsin, recently posted wonderful photos of the Investiture Ceremony of Sr. Miriam and Sr. Mary Francis! See them at http://www.nunocist.org Click on "News" at the bottom of the page (and don't forget the visit the monastery craft page!). Their handmade rosaries, chaplets & prayer ropes are beautiful! Many blessings to the new sisters and the community!
TheresaThoma
Beautiful! They seem to have a steady flow of vocations which is wonderful!
SNJM
Is there a "mature" vocation/postulant pictured in these photos? I hope my eyes are not deceiving me! I have long prayed for this community. One of my clients was over 35 (and below 40), really feeling called to them. I have really prayed & hoped they would begin making decisions based on individuals as opposed to the hard & fast rule. Maybe someone who knows them (or who has better eyes) can tell us. She appears to be on the right side in the photos, with short light hair. Age restrictions aside, I am delighted to see growth in this community as I am in all communities.

I (happily) noticed the same thing, SNJM. Like many other monastic communities, the Cistercian nuns invite lay women and men to share in their charism--as oblates (who, with their order, have a one-year novitiate before making a final oblation). Interestingly, the Whitesville Passionist nuns have an oblate (Kristy) who now resides in the monastery. She, too, wears a black jumper--with a small Passionist pendant around her neck. Hopefully, another PM'er will be able to tell us if the age range (for the Cistercians) have been "relaxed" a bit! I did receive an e-mail response from the Passionists--who told me that even though their Constitutions allowed live-in oblates, it was an "exceptional circumstance" in this case. Sigh... Sr Mary Catharine OP
The novice who you think is "older" is actually about 30. Unless she changed her mind she is entering as a claustral oblate. I'm happy to see she received the habit!
krissylou
The Cistercians (OSCO) in Wrentham welcomed a new postulant this past weekend. They've been getting quite an influx recently. Current count is one in temporary vows, three novices, two postulants, and one aspirant (the term they use is "Observer") who is in the middle of a six-month live-in. Their process is that after a live-in you then go home and discern whether you want to apply for admittance as a postulant, but obviously you don't move in for six months lightly. Maybe you may tell your client to consider being a contemplative missionary for Cistercian Nuns. Asks her and pray to consider Tautra Mariakloster. They don't seem to have age restriction and the view from the monastery is supah amazing!!!Tautra Mariakloster and this article about them..Trappistine nuns find home in Lutheran Norway Lots of conversion to Catholicism happens when the sister made their presence there
