Sponsa-Christi
I'm thinking of writing a reflection (probably for my blog) on the theological value of virginity and why it is so central to the spirituality of consecrated virgins. Naturally, I'll be drawing mainly from the writings of the Church Fathers and contemporary Church documents. But while I am not exactly a die-hard Thomist when it comes to theology, I still feel like I should have a good grip on what he wrote in order to have all the background information I'll need for context. I know I could look up and read what St. Thomas wrote on virginity myself, but I thought it might make for an interesting thread to ask for help here. So, for the all the Thomists here...how would you sum up St. Thomas Aquinas' writings on virginity, and do you have any of your own insights on what he wrote?
