Anybody seen the Leelee Sobeiski version of Joan of Arc that was a tv mini series? It's available on video and DVD now. I own it! I was just curious about what everyone thought of her portrayal.

I love Joan of Arc!!!!! The Leelee Sobieski movie is really good, but some parts are not that accurate, like her relationship with her father. Her martyrdom broke his heart and he died. If you like that movie, you should see the older one with Ingrid Bergman. That one's good too.

That is a really good version. I haven't seen the newer one, though.

I thought that version, while probably better than the one with Milla Jovovich, it missed the mark cos in the battles, the Maid just rides around, waving a flag and holding up a shield to block arrows. That, to me, was disappointing, because I'm sure that St Joan did actually fight...
The one with MJ seemed a bit too much like a Hollywood action blockbuster to me. Not that I remember it too well...
I'll have to see if I can dig up the older version at the vid store or something...

I just wanna clarify which version of Joan I'm talking about. The one where Leelee Sobeiski played Joan. It was a tv miniseries they showed in 2 parts over 2 nights. And she DID fight in that version. I'm not talking about the version that was in theatres called "The Messenger". Anywho. Moving on!

I thought it was brilliant. I own the 2set Video and DVD.. :D Leelee, plays the part well, and the whole 'grey/blue scale' theme works well. There are a few parts that are off, especially at Orleans, but still its a kool movie, and a bit emotional to. <_<

I agree Morph. I was very impressed with LeeLee. And she did a lot of research too. I watch the DVD all the time.

I really, really liked the old black and white version..mostly because the expression the actors put into their parts was beautiful. :D
