Battle of the masses: D.C. vs NY vs Philly

So I watched the three papal masses. First, in Washington D.C., then, in New York (Madison Square Garden), and finally, Philadelphia.

Here's how I rank them:

  1. New York
  2. Philly
  3. Washington D.C.

New York had it all. A chanted gospel, Latin, Gregorian chant, etc.

I watched all three via CNN because it's the only news channel I get, and the New York mass actually had one of the non-Catholic CNN commentators admit that she felt drawn to the Church because of the beauty of the liturgy. Wow.

Also, it was really cool to see my friends in the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal walking around vigilantly protecting the Eucharist during the distribution of Holy Communion.

I watched all of them too. I thought they were all amazing. The Mass in Philadelphia hit home for me most I think because it was overwhelming to see the amount of respect from everyone, both Catholics and non Catholics. And the many many languages just prove the Catholic Church is Universal. I can't even get over the fact that Channel 6 covered the whole Mass. They could've completely ignored it but it was so inspirational. I wish it could be like this all the time. I hope many lives were changed and hearts were touched.

ewtn live streams everything.

I was only able to watch all of the NYC one and LOVED it, caught the last part of the Philly one and thought the closing remarks from the one bishop were too long! :paperbag:

Yeah, somebody needed to bring the Apollo Theater hook out on that guy.

And also on that Aretha Franklin performance. Haha
