Selah
I watched it. Here was an opportunity to utter the name Jesus Christ, and not once did Pope Francis say His name. He was saying His name with his actions.
Seven77
Watching the video now on YouTube. "Mr. Speaker, the Pope of the Holy See"...kind of weird introduction lol. Just say Bishop of Rome or something, trying to be all fancy. I think it was because he was being introduced as head of state--of the Vatican or Holy See. dUSt
I watched it. Here was an opportunity to utter the name Jesus Christ, and not once did Pope Francis say His name. The Pope said God nine times in that speech. Do you deny that Jesus Christ is God?
KnightofChrist
God is God, Christ is God, but "God" is a lot of different things to different people. It would have been nice for the Holy Pontiff to proclaim the name above all other names in a place that surely needed to hear it proclaimed. CrossCuT
Im really upset that he didnt proclaim anything about tacos or pancakes. A taco (so tasty) has a much more powerful meaning than a plain tortilla or even a taco (so tasty) salad; same goes for pancakes. Everybody in that room knew who Jesus Christ was. Everybody in that room knew exactly what the role of the Pope was. Are you saying that the pope should have said "Jesus Christ" because it would have educated someone, or made someone realize that the pope believes in Jesus? I don't get it. We have to take into account who our audience is when we are speaking, do we not? I know. Your method would probably be to say Jesus Christ many times, tell them how the majority of them are going to hell, end with a fancy Latin phrase, and then wipe your hands clean and say, "Well, I spoke the truth, now it's up to them--my obligation is done. Good luck suckers." We have to learn how to talk to people--and I think this pope gets that.
KnightofChrist
The name of our Lord Jesus Christ is a powerful and effective method of evangelization. There is no reason why his name should go unspoken. At the name of Jesus reverently said heaven rejoices and hell trembles. Christ is the name of salvation, mercy love and victory over death. The Pope had the ear of the seat of power in our nation and failed to mention Christ by name. That was a mistake, not an end of the world mistake, but a mistake. I'm sorry but I see no defense in the failure to proclaim the name of salvation by name, Jesus Christ. It was a mistake.

No, nope, nadda, he could have given the same speech and just said the name of Jesus Christ once in place of the word God. CrossCuT
You should call the pope and tell him how to be a better pope.
KnightofChrist
The Pope is God and beyond reproach, he makes no mistakes and no errors. Anyone who dares question any of his so-called mistakes is a -insert stereotypical caricature-.

KnightofChrist
Hahaha yeah I think she over stayed her welcome. I was watching Doctor Who, last years season final, with my friend the other day and he said rather quickly he hated her and that the Doctor should drop her off in the volcano. I was like, dannnngggg.
