little2add
Watching the popes visit to new world on the news this morning and it would appear that everyone in Washington is a catholic today.

IgnatiusofLoyola
I don't see the problem. I'm not a Catholic, but I have deep respect for the Pope, and if I lived or worked in downtown Washington D.C., I might want to catch a glimpse of him, if only to tell the rest of you about. Not to mention that Catholics from outside Washington are traveling there to see the Pope. As for President Obama, he can respect the Pope even if he is not Catholic. Plus, the Pope is the leader of a country recognized by the U.S., so at minimum, Obama is showing him the respect due another world leader. In my lifetime it was a radical step for a Catholic to become President. Is the world perfect? No. But, at least the Pope is recognized and honored by the White House. truthfinder
Maybe little2add is highlighting the common occurrence of every media person suddenly sounding like they are an expert on doctrine and theology. Also, all those people aren't Americans - there's been Canadians going down too.
IgnatiusofLoyola
Also, all those people aren't Americans - there's been Canadians going down too. They are allowing Canadians to enter the U.S.?! Horrors! I hope our next President is able to protect our borders against these interlopers. (I've always wanted to use that emo, but never found a reason before.) P.S. I got the point of little2add's post, and I agree that the media is being obnoxious. I'm just being silly. Get rid of the United Nations. Everybody should just look to the pope to solve disputes. He should be the world's mediator.

Respect and good education these days are too often confused with hypocrisy. Can't you be happy that the Pope is in your country ?

Can't you be happy that the Pope is in your country ? I think you may have misunderstood my post(s). For the record, I am VERY happy that the Pope is visiting the U.S. I'm also very pleased that lots of people, Catholics and non-Catholics alike, are welcoming the Pope and excited that he is here. I have great respect for Pope Francis and it's wonderful that so many people, whether Catholic or not, are having a chance to hear his message. I apologize if my post was not clear. Nihil Obstat
So what qualifications does an amateur Catholic need in order to go pro?
Not The Philosopher
So what qualifications does an amateur Catholic need in order to go pro? An M.Div and a canonization would do the trick, I think.
