OnlySunshine
Psych evaluations can be very taxing. Make sure you treat yourself afterward. Good luck!

Sister Leticia
I hope you're not feeling too worn out. As MM said, give yourself a treat. I didn't see this post in time to pray before or during your assessment, but I can pray for the rest of your process.

Mags
Hi, I survived the first round! Rather than a questionnaire it's more of a discussion with a psychotherapist. Round two in just over a week. I've got a feeling it will be more challenging. She said that after this she would write her report and show it to me. It feels very real now. Your prayers have been much appreciated.

(I wouldn't be surprised if you didn't because psychological interviews in general, beyond those for religious Communities, are usually conducted in a very neutral way so as not to skew results.) Did they tell you how the second round might be different? The fact that you have made it this far in the interview process is a good sign, I expect. We'll continue to pray for you. BTW--The fact that you are will be shown the results of the interview is a positive thing. Edited September 26, 2015 by IgnatiusofLoyola

BTW--The fact that you are will be shown the results of the interview is a positive thing. It was hard to tell, to be honest. She gave nothing away in her responses, but then I didn't expect that she would. She didn't say anything about the second round, I'm just imagining that as she has an overall picture of me that she will go into more depth. I'm still nervous about what may come up. I was told by the superior at the Notting Hill Carmel that I would be given the report and that they would get it only if I did decide to request to enter, I got the impression from the assessor that she would be showing it to me before sending it to the superior. I need to make sure that she doesn't send it straight away as I need a longer period of time back in my normal routine after my month away! Again, thank you all for your prayers. I'm surprised you get a chance to see the results. I was told by the testing psychologist that the results were sent straight from him to the Superior of the order I was applying to. I never saw what went into the report though I know something in my file prevented my entrance. For a while, I was angry and I didn't understand the outcome, but now I am relieved. I am probably the most happy I've ever been and I am a lot more mature than I was 3 years ago. It really surprises me sometimes how God works, but I've had that happen multiple times - enough to know that I need to TRUST! Whatever happens, it's for the best. Mags
I have to admit it does seem odd being able to see the report. It will be interesting to see what they make of me!! I am taking nothing for granted, whatever God wills I will be content with. I have come to recognise that we are always where we are meant to be even if it is hard to see at the time. IgnatiusofLoyola
I think it is an excellent sign that you will see the report. It indicates transparency on the part of the Community--that there will be nothing said behind your back that you don't know about. I worked for a company that did psychological reports on all serious job candidates above a certain pay level, and we also had access to the report. After hiring, an employee could choose to discuss the findings of the report with the HR dept. In your case, if you joined the Community, I could see using the report as one of the tools in your formation, which might be very useful. BTW--I was very pleased to hear that you were seriously discerning with this Community. Former Phatmasser FaithCecelia was a novice with this Community, and in her letters to me, she sounded very happy and the Community wonderful. To the best of my knowledge, the only reason she left the Community was because the Monastery is older and due to its age, it gave her very severe asthma. I was very sad to hear this--I think she would have been a wonderful Sister to you. To anyone: I don't have FaithCecelia's current mailing address. Apparently poster Maximillion had it, but she has not posted in a long time. If any of you have it, I would LOVE to have it. I'm kicking myself that I didn't ask sooner when Maximillion was still posting. I'd really appreciate it if anyone who has it could PM it to me. I'd be willing to answer questions to show that I had at least a little personal contact with Faithcecelia via letters beyond what she posted on Phatmass. I guess I could also write the Prioress of the Community to see if she would forward a letter for me, but I'd rather not bother her if possible. Thanks! beatitude
Iggy, Faith is a friend IRL. I will ask her if I can pass you her current address. The monastery itself did not give her brittle asthma. A place on its own can't cause a severe condition like that. She'd always had asthma, but it became brittle after a bad chest infection. I don't want to say more about Faith's asthma here than she has already said herself in public, but it is a real barrier to living a monastic life in its present aggressive form. Please pray for her healing and for God to bring her back to the monastery if it's his will for her to be there.

I know there was a post about her health, but I somehow missed it. (I think I was on one of my sabbaticals.)
