Why I stayed in Phatmass

Everyone post why you are still around phatmass...

Me - Phatmass came along shortly after JP the Great died.  Felt a little lost, no one in my family understood why I felt the loss.  I didn't have someone around, I quickly discovered, who truly understood or held their faith like I did.

Found akin people on Phatmass.  It help me understand my faith, and even discover in many ways the profoundness of God that I had yet to discover.  I realized quickly upon starting up - that I had a lot to learn in order for my faith to even be considered mature.

Whenever harder times would come - not that I posted them on phatmass, but believe me there have been many (recently to boot), I've always had a tendency to return to those places where I found my faith, deepened my faith, where I learned love, and deepened love.  And Phatmass has always been one of them.  Until that Son-of-a-Great says otherwise, for better or for worse, I'll likely stick around.

I realize I've been abrasive in the last few months, and that I dumped some poo on the ground.  Here's me committing to picking up a bit of this poo, and then some.

Next?  Why are staying with phatmass...

idk why I even stay around. Actually doing some inner reflection on how I'm using the internet, and phatmass, is a good idea. Thank you for starting this. See, that's why I stay on phatmass...

I've been a member for less than a year, but I lurked a lot for over two years before I decided to join. I could have stopped lurking without anyone knowing or caring, but I kept coming back to this site, and then I became a member. What first drew me to the phorum was VS, since I was a noob discerner when I started lurking and I wanted to find out about orders and others' discernment experiences. I still think VS is a great resource, and it's one of the reasons why I keep visiting. I also like the variety of topics (faith-related and otherwise) discussed on Phatmass and the humor. :)

I think my story is a lot like that of HopefulHeart. I was a lurker for a year or two before I joined. The VS is what drew me to actually join. It has been so great to find a place to talk about vocations, learn about different communities and hear other people's stories. There is such a great support system overall.

Plus, I like the emojis! :nun2:

I lurked in the VS station for a year or two before joining, then when I joined so I could start responding in the VS, I became interested in Open Mike. VS is what brought me here and mostly keeps me here too.

Well Mediators of Meh and dust: the content in this thread has already spoken volumes about the phatmass community and retention, as well as recruitment (VS seems to be the main source of recruitment).

Notice no one said they joined because of props? Or stayed because of props? Sometimes we worry too much about the little things I guess.

Cheers!

Let's keep the thread going.

I came when I was converting, after my cousins told me about the site. I left for a bit, then came back after I'd entered the Church and have been around since then. I've made friends, some of whom I've gotten to know in real life (like my daughter's godmother!). I've learned a lot, including how to defend my faith. I've found prayerful support when I've needed it.

There are good people here and its also a good way for me to keep up on my trad understanding. I dont really tune into any religious discussion in any depth outside of phatmass so this place helps offer a good counter view to my stance in life.

I too lurked for a while, after I finally joined VS was the first Phorum I posted an entry on, I have to say that I find it supportive and encouraging to know that others out there are finding their way in life. There are not many opportunities to discuss such matters so this is a great resource. Thank you.
