Pope Francis eases annulment process ‘for good of souls’

I have concerns about this 'fast track' processes.  Personally I think the episcopate in the U.S. and Europe is in need of some reforming before being given the authority of making judgments on annulments. I'm sure that is not a popular statement but it's my opinion.  We need to pray a lot for our bishops.

As do I, because I am aware of history. Two prime examples of concern are Vatican II and the changes to the Mass there was wide spread abuse of the changes, abuses that still have great negative effects on the Church. The False spirit of Vatican II isn't dead and those that push that ideology will very likely repeat their history of abuse in this case.

It's like deja-vu, all over again on Phatmass today.

It sounds to me that a bishop can assign a judge, or judges to do all the work. He just signs off on it.

I guess I missed that part.  But still, in the end, it comes down to the individual bishop signing off and thus making him morally responsible.  Some bishops will probably want to be more diligent than others.  It puts a lot of pressure on them whatever ends up happening. (particularly when the laity will see the 45 day part and start complaining why things are still taking time).

In my diocese, there's a tribunal staffed by a priest and two trained laypeople. You have to pay the laypeople. If they start getting flooded with annulment requests, it's going to cost the diocese.
