Debating and/or Off Topic

If one is posting into a thread where a debate begins (non debating forum) or an exchange commences that is off topic, I wonder if it might be a good idea to start a thread on the subject and/or debate into a debating forum or Open Mic for off topic subjects.  One can put a link to the new thread into the original thread to notify posters on the subject -  and the interested - that the subject will be continued in another more appropriate thread and where to locate it.  This spares that original thread from a debate or being hijacked.  Hope all that is not too muddled.

I try to remember to do this if the need arises - with "try to" underscored.

Ash Wednesday

I suppose something like that would be the courteous thing to do. I've tried splitting threads that end up off topic -- it's a pain in the buttocks, and I haven't found out a quick and easy way to do it, unless there's some fiddly function thing I haven't figured out yet.

Mine is not a quick and easy way either:

1 - I open the new thread wherever with an opening post and publish it.

2 - At the top of that post is a weird little red three dot triangular type symbol.  if you hover over that "Share this post" appears.  Right click and the link to the post comes up.  I copy it.

3 - I return to the thread where the debate or off topic exchange began and post into it that I have started a thread related to the debate or off topic subject.  I then post the forum name and the title of the post with the link.

4 - I also post into the new thread and post a link to the originating post of the debate or off topic matter.

Thread hijacking is so much fun though . . .

I suppose that it is, Peace :like2:........... and personally, I  really like the Holy Spirit to lead wherever He may.

But in some forums, debating is against Phatmass rules as is hijacking a thread.  Having signed on as a member of Phatmass and been accepted, my personal rule is that I am bound by the rules of the site which transcend my personal preferences.

Dr. Alberto Rivera

The Popes say they are GOD on earth.. I would kindly like to know, where in the Bible KJV none Latin vulgate, where it says a 'pope' is GOD on earth? I know the Holy Spirit represents Jesus Christ on earth.

A letter from Cardinal Giuseppe Sarto (who became Pope Pius X in 1903) as quoted in Publications of the Catholic Truth Society Volume 29 (Catholic Truth Society: 1896): 11.

In 1512 Christopher Marcellus said this to Pope Julius II:

Pope Leo XIII said these things about the role of the Papacy and the Roman Church:

Our thoughts went out towards the immense multitude of those who are strangers to the gladness that filled all Catholic hearts: some because they lie in absolute ignorance of the Gospel; others because they dissent from the Catholic belief, though they bear the name of Christians.

This thought has been, and is, a source of deep concern to Us; for it is impossible to think of such a large portion of mankind deviating, as it were, from the right path, as they move away from Us, and not experience a sentiment of innermost grief. But since We hold upon this earth the place of God Almighty...viii

But the supreme teacher in the Church is the Roman Pontiff. Union of minds, therefore, requires, together with a perfect accord in the one faith, complete submission and obedience of will to the Church and to the Roman Pontiff, as to God Himself.ix

And more recently, Pope John Paul II wrote that names like "Holy Father" are applicable to the Pope, even though calling him that is counter to the Gospel:

Have no fear when people call me the "Vicar of Christ," when they say to me "Holy Father," or "Your Holiness," or use titles similar to these, which seem even inimical to the Gospel.x

In 1996 he also gave his ascent to calling the Pope "Lord" and "Christ on earth":

we readily understand the devotion of Saint Francis of Assisi for "the Lord Pope",the daughterly outspokenness of Saint Catherine of Siena towards the one whom she called "sweet Christ on earth", the apostolic obedience and the sentire cum Ecclesia of Saint Ignatius Loyola, and the joyful profession of faith made by Saint Teresa of Avila: "I am a daughter of the Church" (emphases added).xi

Off topic of this thread, AR :) - and quotations come from a Seventh Day Adventist website I suspect i.e. "Amazing Discoveries".

"Amazing Discoveries™ is committed to exposing deception in the spiritual realm and restoring the truth about God and His Word through the proclamation of the three angels’ messageshttp://amazingdiscoveries.org/AD-Our-Story

I am not going to address your post in any detail because not only off topic but the assertions are false and not Catholic teaching at all.

I knew you were a troll the second I saw your username.

You're in the wrong place, "Doctor". Please post such questions either in the Q&A forum (if you genuinely want an answer) or in the Debate Table (if you're really looking for an argument).
