Quietfire
Asside from Andy Dufresne admitting to having sex outside of marriage, indeed, this was a very very cool movie.
I dont remember that part in the movie. I have it on DVD and have watched it more times than I care to remember. Exactly where does he admit to infidelity? "The Green Mile" was actually written as a novella, a series of chapters released one at a time. The concept was very big in the 50's and 60's and kept kids and adults coming back to buy a magazine or comic to keep up with the story. Stephen King released it this way to see if the story would hold interest, and because he likes to go against 'the norm'. After the huge positive response from readers, the story was then released in whole. King said it was one of the hardest things he ever did (novella) because its like slow torture to get to the end. The book is still better than the movie, but it is one of his better screenplays. Quite often, because of the fact that Mr. King is rather graphic and mental, movies cannot capture the complete scope of his work, and as a result, most of his movies become more horror than anything else. Look at "The Shining". Excellent movie (but again, to get into the whole physcological aspect of it you have to read the book) One of King's best. The first movie I ever saw by King was "The Dead Zone", didnt like it. So I decided to read the book. Fell in love with King after that. "Stand by me" is another great movie, but again, read the book. It's under the title of "The Body", though now it might just be called "Stand by Me". Then I believe, he also wrote "Salem's Lot", the book will give you chills that the movie or miniseries doesnt even get near. King likes the physcological approach, which is truly lost when it becomes a movie. Most of the time his work is reduced to horror/gore. Jake Huether
I dont remember that part in the movie. I have it on DVD and have watched it more times than I care to remember. Exactly where does he admit to infidelity?
When Andy is talking to Red about how he met his wife. He said something like, "we met...blah, blah,...then we made love under that tree...and that's when I asked her to marry me". So clearly he had sexual relations prior to marriage. But that's just the one scene that bothers me. The rest of the movie is cool.
BeenaBobba
Here is a list of books by Stephen King. Some have been made into movies and miniseries.
He writes a lot, huh? Wow. Some of his stuff is really cool. I recently read It, though, and I was a bit disappointed. The movie was really freaky, and the book was too. The book was really good in some parts, but I was sickened by those preteen kids having sex. Like, six of them or so had sex with one girl. It was disturbing, to say the least. Plus, I thought the whole It being a giant cosmic spider was really odd. It was scarier as a clown. God bless, Jen
