DominicanHeart
http://www.tjburdick.com/2014/06/02/12-signs-that-you-are-probably-a-dominican/ I found this on Facebook and I thought it was cute. It doesn't 100% describe me but I'm still sure I have the Dominican spirituality in my heart. Hence my username
TheresaThoma
That is too funny! I have a slightly Dominican heart but another Saint has stolen my heart even more... (not saying which though!)
puellapaschalis
Do you all have some salt ready? You don't like praying the Office as much as OSBs do. One solid colour of habit just wasn't enough. You have this weird propensity to go everywhere and thus can't vow stabilitas. You get way too distracted when there's a power cut during Office and start discussing what to do and what it all means instead of just carrying on. The way in which S Scholastica could pray her brother into staying over just isn't compelling (enough). Having two feast days in the calendar for your Holy Father isn't your idea of a good time. Having another one for his sister is just overkill. You prefer begging over self-sufficiency (I've just realised how controversial that statment could be in some current political climates!). Ontology and things like why God had to become Man are not ideas that interest you. You reckon that just because one of your confreres, upon becoming Pope, couldn't be bothered to get at least one set of new togs, you're all that. Our Blessed Lady tells you about the Rosary like this one time and all of a sudden you're all up in that there Marian devotion, girlfriend, like no-one else ever had been previously. The only history ever worth studying began in the 13th century. /me zips up flame-retardant suit /me slips quiiiiiiiietly out the door
vee
My beloved children, Please stop bickering about such trivial matters. Both of your orders are equally great and good in my eyes. Sincerely yours, God, S.J.
vee
Puella had her OSB list so I shall attempt the Carmelite version - you can appreciate habit colors that are safe to eat spaghetti in - when the power goes out you can just go back to your meditation, even with the franciscans singing and OPs debating -you know how many Carmelite saints are actually named Teresa and can name them all -YOU are named teresa -you hear the words mother Teresa and think of the Spanish nun from the 1500s -July is one big feast day for you -you find shoes over rated -you died at an early age from what is now a commonly curable illness -you track your spiritual progress based on the interior castle (i think im in the moat) -your memoirs give people diabetes -there is a movie or miniseries about your life -you wear the brown scapular! Ave Crux
Having two feast days in the calendar for your Holy Father isn't your idea of a good time. Having another one for his sister is just overkill. We do have two feast days for OHF Dominic - 24th May and 8th August And he didn't have a sister, but we get a feast day for both his brother and his mother so the du Guzman family are doing ok for saints and blesseds, thank you very much. :-) Edited August 19, 2015 by Ave Crux
DominicanHeart
I just love to think about how blessed we are as Catholics to have so many beautiful Orders and Spiritualties that can even appeal to the younger generations.

If I were a Dominican, I'd be a walking testimony to the powers of Tide and Oxyclean.
