where did you disappear to, kid?

I'm going to guess this school year she was sucked into the soulless void aka college.

Can you share with us what's next? Are you going back to college next year?

BTW--Your posts earlier in the college year made it sound as if you were really enjoying college, although you were working very hard. I hope the rest of the school year went well.

I am going back to college next year; for the time being, I'm not officially discerning anything, so there's not really any kind of updates regarding that. College was good! Second semester kicked almighty butt, but that's what I  get when I take two level-300 theologies, a philosophy, and a music theory along with everything else, including piano lessons that require 12 hours of practice a week. :boink: Definitely brought that upon myself! Next semester will hopefully be easier; the toughest classes I have will probably be biology and music theory.

I've really gotten into photography since I've been on here last; I got a DSLR for graduation last year and am really trying to be able to make some good money off of photography (and for now, that's my only source of income). My goal is to do photoshoots and wedding photography, but I live 4 months of the year in a town with 10,000 people and the other 8 months in a town of 11,000 people, so that's proven to be challenging. :\  So for right now, I'm seeing what kind of business I can drum up selling prints of my still life/nature shots on Etsy. You can check it out here if you feel so inclined. :) I'm planning to upgrade cameras - and switch from Nikon to Canon - but I'm a few thousand dollars (don't judge me -_-) short of being able to do that, so I'm not banking on that happening any time soon. xD

I've also gotten back into ballet at school; they offer dance classes there so I've been taking those and the Kansas City Ballet is located an hour away from campus so a friend and I plan to go there to take their open classes next semester.

This summer for me has consisted of the aforementioned photography happenings, job hunting, learning Russian, and counting the days until school starts again. It gets pretty lonely here. :( 44 days to go!

I'm SOOOO glad you're enjoying college. If I remember correctly, at this time last year you were feeling sad and disappointed, but it seems as if God has blessed your for your continued faith and trust, and showed you that what he had in mind for you (at least for right now) is something that it sounds like you are really enjoying, well, except for finals. :(

Clearly you have a creative gift for both photography and music--what a wonderful thing! Perhaps we should all be praying that LOTS of couples at your college get engaged next year, so that you can earn some money with wedding photography and wedding music. I'm sure you've thought of this, but one start could perhaps be taking engagement photos. You could always offer to do some for free, with an agreement that the couple would let you use the photos selectively in your portfolio. Also pet photography could be a possibility. It's probably not something you'd want to do forever, but I bet loyal pet owners would be willing to pay for pet photographs, although I suspect this could also be very hard work in some cases. :) Perhaps local dog groomers and vets would let you give them their card in case they had clients who were interested.

Even more lovely is that if, in the future, you are called back to discernment, Communities are always in need of photographers and musicians.

Geez, Vee, I've been back for one day and you're already giving me flak? ;) I guess I should have made a DC leaves thread but if I continued posting there I would have never actually left... -_-

Yes, this time this year is way different than it was last year, praise God.

I'm up for doing engagement shoots, too! There are just a couple of other photographers at BC who have much more advanced equipment (two of them have the Canon camera I'm saving for) and they're the automatic go-to. I find it really annoying how the rich pampered people who don't really need the extra money get more work just because they have better equipment. >.<

Did you start a comic book company too?

Huh?
