I do not mean this in a rude way at all, but @MarysLittleFlower...I noticed you're having a little trouble taking your break.  Not that I think you shouldn't keep posting, I mean, if you changed your mind, that's all and good, but if you were truly trying to take a break maybe a little advice will help: I know how addicting social media and forums can be, and how sometimes it does get in the way of spiritual life if you let it... IF you need help taking a break from phatmass, maybe you can ask Dust to ban you from here for a certain period of time, this way even if you had the urge to post you wouldn't be able to?

Just wondering if you need help with your intention...

yea I am having trouble taking a break :( lol that shows how weak I am in this. Maybe if I post since this point, it would be good if someone were to tell me go on my break :D lol but that would inconvenience people I think. Maybe I should just renew my intent and importantly - not visit phatmass till / if I feel its time to come back. So I now publically resolve to not visit phatmass till that point, and if / when that happens I'll say I'm back. Ok hopefully that would keep me accountable. I think the reason I keep coming back is I have no Catholics to talk to right now and I miss it. I need to turn it into prayer instead :) ok Try 3 commences now. .

I will disagree, and say that I think that VS helps during a time of stress by offering support.  Even if a poster writes something which generates some disapproval, it is helpful to know that there are others out there in the cyber-ether who take the time to read and offer their opinions.  Just to know that one isn't alone is a great help at times.

So, if you're reading this, MLF, I suggest not breaking entirely with VS, but LIMITING it.  Either assign a specific period of time -- say 30 minutes, once a day, to reading the forum, or allowing yourself a maximum number of replies over a given period -- perhaps only one a day, for example.  You'll get the benefits of checking in with us, yet won't let VS take over your life.  In addition, if you limit your replies, you will have to choose which is the most important topic you wish to reply to, in other words, you will have to decide your priorities.  This in itself is a good exercise.

Castigating yourself as "weak" merely increases guilt; it doesn't improve matters.  Making sensible choices is a good thing, though.

Ok this is good for humility :) I said I won't be back till it seems its ok, and now having thought about it I decided to alter my resolution a bit because of a situation. I'm still on a break but I think it might be better to allow a very limited time here rather than zero posting and zero visiting. I stayed off phatmass today during the day to keep my resolution but now that I'm visiting my family for the summer, I have no Catholics to speak to.. That and having to deal with a difficult family situation made me feel very lonely with no Catholic conversations at all.

I think I should change my resolution after having tried it. Yet I still want a break from lots of posting so I can pray more and work on myself.

So here's what I decided :)

I'm going to come here for 10 minutes every other day. This will limit it enough to be like a break but I'll still feel like I can speak to someone about my faith. Because currently I'm feeling very isolated.

Then if I ever think its safe to increase the time I might, but I think its good to set a time then too, so I'm not online excessively. So that's my little alternation, after attempting what I planned. Its more realistic I think this way..  Lol probably was unnecessary to go into such detail but I don't want to scandalise people by posting after having left, without explaining at all..

Sounds good MLF! You can actually get a lot done in 10 minutes; it's just a case of being, ahem, selective in what you read :)
