Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
WARNING: TOPIC HOT OFF THE PRESS AND MAY BE HARD TO HANDLE! SUBLIMINAL MESSAGES ASIDE AND PAGAN PHILOSOPHIES ON T.V AND MOVIES, HERES SOME SCIENTIFIC REASONS WHY WE SHOULDNT WATCH T.V. Science has now proven that Television watching causes a type of tunnel vision. Have a look at a picture on your wall and i bet you can't see the whole thing at once and your focus is on a very small section and the rest of the picture outside of the small section in focus is not as visible which supposedly is caused by looking at that itty bitty box called television all the time, i suppose if the screen was life sized it wouldnt have the same effect. This makes it harder and more dangerous when driving a motor vehicle, supposedly it doesn't just effect the equilibrium of the physical site but also mans ability to multi task, supposedly less people write letters to the government because they can only deal with bills, family and work, supposedly where meant to be able to multi task much more in general, perhaps that shrunk site is a shrunk brain or something and also shrinks the amount we can juggle in life. Is it permanent side effect? I don't know. But i do know God can heal anything but you have to switch the darn thing off first. And supposedly it has something to do with real life pictures and a computer screen doesn't nescisarily have the same effect nore do cartoons or reading a book would do the same thing, it has something to do with reality being shrunk into minature(real pictures) and than our mind gets tricked and starts to shrink our real time reality, what we know is that our peripheral vision is shrunk and supposedly multi tasking is reduced. Papist
Who needs scientific data? Just turn the TV on. That is all the proof you need.
hotpink
Ummm....it'd be helpful if you'd cite this data. There are important factors in what make things bad or good. The vision thing isn't simply among TV viewers but also among those who work and live in small buildings and those who do things like work on submarines. Men and women on subs aren't allowed to drive after getting off from a long tour because they loose their ability to see distance. That TV has some of the same properties of these other things isn't that surprising. Not only that, but TV's are now much larger so this "tunnel vision" isn't even relevant as screens get bigger and bigger. When it comes to letter-writing, etc, one cannot simply blame the TV. In the scope of human existence the times when letter writing was feasible has been very slim due to difficulties traveling and literacy. We're talking 1600's to 1900's...at most about 400 years of 6,000+ years of existence of modern man. There are many cultures that were thrown off by this new value upon the individual. In some Native American circles there is no word for "I" only "We" TV also has some really great items, if you choose. There is catholic programing, educational programing, etc. Simply throwing out the TV as a whole isn't helpful. People will always be attracted to technology. Cable TV is struggling as internet TV grows. To me, this is less good than TV becuase the internet is more polarizing, and as you proved it's much easier to slap up whatever you feel. Gabriela
Again with the "proving"? Please remember: Science doesn't "prove" squat.
