Maggyie
Urgent question! Clearly. I believe my husband was a bed-maker before we got married, but I have converted him to my slovenly ways. I do feel better about my life after make the bed, but I feel so horrible while doing it, the payoff isn't worth it. nevertheless I heard on the radio about a study showing people who make their bed every day score higher on social ability tests. Non bed makers had higher IQs though.
Nihil Obstat
I do not, but my wife does.
Spem in alium
I used to (more or less) make my bed before I entered the convent. When I entered, my formation director taught me how to do it "the convent way", and I guess once you go there you never go back.
Ash Wednesday
No -- I leave the house for my work commute while my husband is still in bed on weekdays. On weekends, yes.
Archaeology cat
As soon as my husband gets up, I make the bed. Then if my mom's cat comes in sneezes all over the bed, only the quilt will get dirty (yes, this has happened. Her cat has issues).
hotpink
Nope, I never make the bed. It actually discourages bacteria growth. However, compared to most of my friends I am a stickler to wash sheets. I have visited friends with kids. I do think that it's good to teach kids, until they turn into little sweatballs in their teens. Ewwww. I swear, I don't see how my mom didn't make me wash my sheets every day as a teen. I'm not OCD and I'm not particularly greesy but eww.

Yes, before living in the same house as my parents (and my mom's snotty cat), I would pull all the covers down neatly instead of making the bed with the covers pulled up. My kids don't usually make their beds, but two of them have lofted beds so the snotty cat (who is also arthritic) can't get up there anyway. I'm not fond of keeping animals that have to toilet in the house in a place where it lingers. A girl once asked me once how I'd handle babies. I said I'd be the world's most attentive dad and clean their dipares as soon as they poo'd. She said that there are women who'd marry me on that alone. Friends with kids go gaga because I'm willing to change their kids and get rid of the offensive stuff (bring it to the garage can, no problem!). Although I am not sure how humanity hasn't developed a 3rd arm when it comes to changing baby boys.

Not A Mallard
No, but this reminds me that I was planning on making my bed today. Thanks!

Actually, he does all diaper changes when he's not at work, too. But really, you do adapt. I mean, I'm emetaphobic, but have a child with cyclic vomiting syndrome. That's some irony, right there. Back to beds - my kids are well aware that I do not allow them to play on my bed. No shoes allowed in beds, etc. They're used to my eccentricities. Benedictus
No, I fold the duvet at the end of the bed and allow the sunlight in. My parents used to insist on this and I carried it on. My mother would vacuum the bed every few days too. I thought this was all weird until I read exposure to light kills dust mites or something Edited June 6, 2015 by Benedictus
HopefulHeart
Yes, making my bed is a part of my morning routine. I don't really think about whether or not I should make my bed; it's simply become mechanical.
Basilisa Marie
I don't, but I probably should. I don't see the point in making the bed unless someone else is going to see it, but I guess it's a good thing to do to cultivate a general habit of discipline and cleanliness and order and all that nonsense. Mary+Immaculate<3
As a rule I make mine, though I'm not uptight about tucking the sheets tight with mitered corners and all that, just sort of smooth them out and cover them with the quilt haha! Sometimes if I'm running late or really tired I won't, but I do feel more accomplished after just doing a basic task like that. And usually I don't on Saturdays because that's when I change them.
