blackiron1
An Image of the Blessed Virgin Mary covered in dung and pornography is going to be sold by Christie's in London. I find this image quite offensive and thought that I would share a link to the story with Phatmass readers. http://www.infowars.com/virgin-mary-painting-covered-in-dung-and-porn-to-be-sold-at-christies/

superblue
This is what undignified artists who have a poor career and are not that creative do, to get attention.
hotpink
This is what undignified artists who have a poor career and are not that creative do, to get attention. Well, it's very crafty to do something like this as it calls attention. This is what the Pope was speaking about when he mentioned calling attention to something just to be offensive and why we should not partake of it. It looks like an 8th grader's colleage and an highly racistly drawn picture of a black woman with xeroxed buttox dribbled around. It's just immature. I'd actually think it's more offensive to black people than Catholics since it's clearly an outrageously drawn black woman but zero makes it clear it's Mary. People entertained by it have the attention level of minoinons who go "buttt buttt butt" at everything. Catholics would do well to follow the peaceful moselms who ignore mohammed art by saying, "you cannot draw mohammed, you can make a drawing and call it mohammed, but it is not he." hotpink
I don't even want to look at it I'll just take your word for it. So sad makes me think of how Our Lady asked for first Five Saturdays in reparation for sins against her Immaculate Heart. You don't have to fear if you do look at it. It looks like a very offensively drawn black woman with magazine butt cutouts like fractals around it. I'm not sure I quite see the poop, unless that's the skin color which makes it even more offensive. The artist can call it Mary, but seriously, it isn't like any Mary I've ever seen, nor does it posses the iconography or other standards know to Mary (halo, veil, young) heck, one could probably even claim the picture is not female Edited June 2, 2015 by hotpink

Didacus
Don't feed the trolls - even if the trolls sell T-shirts. I can just imagine these nut jobs trying to explain their money grabbing scheme on judgment day. I may be a witness, but I won't be the judge and I am fine with that. Besides, no howling of poo tossing with tarnish the mom and her holiness. She is beyond the reach of all things vile or evil and that's all that really matters to me. NadaTeTurbe
I find this more racist than anti-catholic. When you see it, you don't think it's our Holy Mother. In my city, years ago, there was an horrible play in the theatre - our poor Christ and scatology stuff >_<. But NOBODY was speaking about it. I think the bishop condemn it, but nothing more. buuuut then came Civitas, the political branch of the FSSPX of Marcel Lefebvre. They speak about it aloud, describing with a lot of details what was happening in this play, going in the streets with big wooden cross, praying the rosaries in the streets, attacked the play... The resultats ? A lot of people came to see the play, who had a lot of success, thanks to Civitas !

Although it would give it more press, we need those of color, not Catholics to be condemning this. I don't understand what you mean ? I think he means that drama causes more people to want to watch. But really, that's human nature. If it wasn't then we wouldn't of had public executions....some of those condoned by the church
KnightofChrist
I don't understand what you mean ? I think he means that drama causes more people to want to watch. Close, I'm sure some went to see it because it was controversial. But the blame belongs on those that produced the play and those that paid to see it. Not the those that warned against it. KnightofChrist
I mean come on God forbid our first parents to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil but they did. Do we blame God for warning against it? Of course not.
NadaTeTurbe
The blame belongs first on the producer, but he also belongs to the people who make publicity (my father really thought they were paid by the producers, at this point), speaking in graphic details about it on national television.
