dUSt
Not bad. As soon as I stop being lazy, videos are what I'm going to be focusing phatmass on going forward. Hip hop is dead. Besides the work of Spirit Juice, I have been majorly underwhelmed with Catholic video production. I really think phatmass can make an impact in this field. dUSt
Also, how did they get @Nihil Obstat to play his normal self in this video!?
PhuturePriest
One thing I don't like about it is that they give the impression that Gregorian chant is outdated and not beautiful, whereas modern Christian music is where it's at. I'm sure this Ike Indolo is a talented guy, but he's nothing compared to Gregorian chant.

I'm sure this Ike Indolo is a talented guy, but he's nothing compared to Gregorian chant. I mostly perceived that he was a fail because he tried to sing it himself, though I could see why it could be seen as a dig on chant. Pretty hilarious video! Basilisa Marie
Chant's more appropriate for Mass or prayer or when you're trying to be contemplative. It's not exactly "woooo let's go have fun doing secular things with my non-Catholic friends!" music. Plus I thought it was more about the "I must not be tainted by worldly things!!!!!1!!" attitude. truthfinder
Yeah, echoing Ash and Basilisa, I don't think any schola director would let that character sing Gregorian chant. I was expecting that character to put on a rosary cd, but that didn't happen.

I beg to differ. I listen to Benedictine Monks do Gregorian chant on a regular basis. I find it is particularly useful when writing something, though I do listen to it when I'm scrolling around quite a bit as well. When I'm not listening to Def Leppard, of course. And I didn't say that that was their intention (or at least I hope it wasn't). I said it gave that impression, but it may have just given me that impression because I'm a lover of Gregorian chant. I love, love, love many kinds of chant - to listen to closely and understand the words. If it's on in the background it's the most grating thing ever.
