Not A Mallard
Tomorrowland: one of the few non-franchise blockbusters this year...and that's what makes its disappointment worse. My review: "Tomorrowland spends far more time with characters who talk about and try to teleport to its titular utopia than it spends actually being there. Brad Bird directs the sparse action set pieces with unique creativity, if also with not so family-friendly brutality towards humanoid robots. Refreshingly, there’s not one but two solid female protagonists, one of whom can kick serious butt, and the other of whom can save the future from destruction just by being optimistic. The movie attempts to be the antidote to dystopia, but the message is overshadowed by a slogging plot that’s not cool or joyful enough to fulfill its premise."
