Archaeology cat
I am a young woman. I do not do those things. I hug people I'm a woman and prefer high fives or waves even to hugs. I've just never been a hugging person. Anyway, dUSt was being facetious. If the friend is a fan of hugs as greetings, then OK. I will hug Monsignor and give him a kiss on the cheek because that's how he greets people (like, everyone, not just me), even though I'm not a fan of hugs. BarbTherese
I was quite friendly with my previous Archbishop - as a teenager, I had known him as a priest and just "Father .......... " I always called our Archbishop "Your Grace", even though we were quite friendly and I had known him as a young priest.

Very close friends and family, fine. Anyone else makes me very uncomfortable.

I like that a lot more than Your Excellency, but I would never say it in fear of being mistaken for British.
