This is kind of off the topic, but I like reading people's first posts. I read dUSt's first post once, and it was funny because I thought it was going to be like, "Welcome to the phorum, everyone." But it was like, "Dope. I'll be there." He was talking about a concert or something.
i'm new to this phorum thing so i really just wanted to see what all the stuff i just put in my signature n stuff will work. anyway, what I always have said about drinking is to drink because you're happy never because your sad and drink but don't get drunk. The psalms say a bit of wine gladdens a man's heart. I really don't think its wrong, definitely not a mortal sin... prolly should wait till ure 21, but it's not really bad unless you get drunk n stuff. Anyway, im gonna send this reply and see what it looks like. PEACE
This was my first post:
Hey everyone,

This is my first time posting here, so I want to introduce myself. My name is Jen. I'm 21 and from Rhode Island. How's it going?

Anyhow...

The past few days, I've been discussing gay marriages with a homosexual (perhaps bisexual) guy. He's all for homosexual civil marriages. I gave him many reasons why I was against this, from both legal and moral perspectives.

He called me a bigot, of course, even though I told him repeatedly that I have nothing against him. I told him that, as a Catholic, I am against homosexual practices. You know, love the sinner, hate the sin.

I'd appreciate it if you'd be able to contribute to this with some legal and/or moral arguments against homosexual civil unions.

Thanks, God bless, + peace,

Jennifer
Hehe. I was so...green. LOL.

God bless,

Jen

My first post was pretty long.... :P
Hey everyone! I really can't think of anything clever to say, but here goes..

I'm a 16 year old Knight (Knight-ess?) of the Immaculata from Illinois. I was consecrated to Our Lady through the MI two years ago and have loved every minute of it!

I love music.. and singing.. and more music! My mp3 player is full of a very odd mix of music- from Phantom of the Opera to Josh Groban, Matchbox 20 to Eminem, and Latin polyphonic chants thrown in for good measure.

My other love in life (besides Christ, the Blessed Mother, and the Catholic Church!!) is writing. I hope to become a journalist, get hired on at our disgustingly liberal newspaper and infiltrate the system with my right-wing conservative views!! muah*ha*ha!!! I am actively pro-life, and use my writing as my biggest weapon. Once a month you can usually find my name in the editorials with another article defending the right to life. (Stoopid editors only publish from the same author every 30 days.. I need to get myself some pseudonyms!!)

I'm 16.5, and finally getting my driver's licence this Friday!!! Next year I will be a Junior in high school.. looking forward to upperclassmen lockers, music theory classes and finally shedding the titles of 'freaky freshman' and 'stupid sophomore.' I teach CCD classes at a parish downtown, where most of my students are a few months older than I am. Slightly intimidating, but it's amazing to see God's hand working in these kid's lives. (Yes, I still call them my kids...)

That's about all for now.. You prolly won't hear much from me, I plan to lurk for a little while! I get easily addicted to message boards, but I can't wait to learn from you guys!

All for the Immaculata,
Katrina

EDIT: Oh! I almost forgot to mention.. I'm also involved in Opus Dei! A friend of mine talked me into attending an Evening of Recollection last year, and now I'm hooked!! I would love to hear from any other MI's or Opus Dei peeps!!
