britannia Posted May 11, 2015 Share Posted May 11, 2015 This monastery was founded by the Empress Eugenie of France in exile, to keep the tombs of her husband Napoleon III and her son who dies in the zulu wars. She moved to the house, Farnborough Hill, on the other side of the railway cutting and when she died the house was taken over by the Religious of Christian Education for the school which they had founded in Farnborough when religious education was effectively banned in France.
