I love all of these. They all look gorgeous, and yet they all taunt me. There are distinct things I like more on each one. For instance, I love the Benedict one, but the crucifix on it is meh, whereas the Benedictine crucifix on the regular one is better, but I don't like the 11th beads on it as much, whereas I love the crucifix on the Hoplite one, but I'm not certain it's my favorite.

All are made of military grade paracord and steel beads, save for the Hoplite, which is made with brass beads.

If you think this is an existential dilemma, you're gonna have a helluva time recognizing the real thing when you face it....

More existential dillema-er: The poll is not working.

Just type your favorite in a post.

Less dillema-y: The poll is now working again. Unfortunately I had to make a choice in order to make the results viewable for me.

Get all three. ;)

I need to get a really sturdy rosary... I go through them a lot, every one I have is either missing or busted. :(

I know your pain. I always hang mine either on a belt loop or wrapped around my hand. Needless to say in the past four years I've destroyed so many rosaries that I should be put on trial, which is why I want a nice dependable rosary that won't break.

Awe, I think he was clearly just using a bit of wry humor.

See, FP, I'm getting better. :P

I like all three, however, if I could only get one then it would be the second one since it incorporates a little of the other two in it.

I've decided against the Saint Benedict one because it lacks a medal in the middle, and they're a very important piece to me.

I understand the feeling.  I have a nice all black parachute cord rosary with black beads but it also does not have the medal, and I must admit I miss that medal.  They have a nice U.S. armed forces rosary!

I think I've decided upon the black steel one, as it incorporates the Benedictine stuff and I like it overall. It's really tough, though, as I do really like the Hoplite.

I'm sure you've thought of this already, but, just in case, is there anyone in your parish or perhaps even someone here on Phatmass who makes corded Rosaries at a low (or at least reasonable) cost? That way, you could get the exact rosary you want.

I know I am probably the last person on Phatmass anyone would associate with rosaries, but I love them. Ironically, I have a very hard time SAYING the Rosary, but often I simply hold one of my rosaries when I am in need of consolation and it makes me feel better.

The main reason I came to love rosaries was that when Phatmasser Laetitia Crucis (now Sister Mary Catherine of the St. Joseph Domininicans in the UK) was trying to raise money before her entrance, she made rosaries. I got involved with her effort, because I found that I LOVED rosary beads and parts and enjoyed looking for them on the Internet. I bought most of the beads and parts for Laetitia Crucis, and then she would make the rosaries. Laetitia Crucis no longer makes rosaries because she has no time. Plus, she is in England now, which would make the logistics very difficult.

Also, because you said that your rosaries break a lot due to heavy use, it probably makes more sense (at least for now) to "settle" for a rosary you like, even if it isn't "perfect." That way it won't hurt so much when/if it breaks.

Note: I share the feeling with you that I prefer a rosary with a center. In fact, a couple of the rosaries that Laetitia Crucis made for me before she entered were built around a center I particularly liked. After Laetitia Crucis entered, I found a very unusual center for "Mary, Undoer/Untier of Knots." Someday perhaps I will find a way to have a rosary made for me with this center. In the meantime, I use the center like a medal.

Good luck in your quest. (Although it looks like you've come to at least a tentative decision for now.) I didn't vote on any of the options because preferences in rosaries are very personal, so the most important thing is finding the one you like best. Perhaps it's "shallow" (although personally I don't think it is shallow at all), but for me, having a rosary I love, whether because of how it looks, or because it has special meaning for me, helps me turn to the Rosary more often. (BTW--I'm not suggesting AT ALL that you have any problem saying the Rosary regularly--that's MY problem.)

I decided on the Catholic Gentleman Rosary.

I would like to thank Phatmassers for literally contributing nothing to this decision. :|

I decided yesterday that I was figuring out this whole thing the wrong way, and rather asked Mary which one she wanted me to have.

I don't know if it worked. I just settled on a decision after that.
