~*AnCoRa33*~
I'm NOT excited about having to go to surgery, but I am excited about the OUTCOME!!!!!!!!! Quick run-through of my ear history ( I just KNOW you ALL want to read it ) I've been nearly half-deaf all my life. My right ear is PERFECT!! My left ear doesn't even realize that there is a sound until 35 decibles (a REALLY, REALLY LOUD whisper). I've had tubes 3 TIMES, 2 holes in my eardrum, (according to my ~10 drs.) every ear medication possible (exaggerating a bit there......) I havn't been able to get my ears wet in WHO KNOWS HOW LONG, AND (if this surgery doesn't work out) will probably have to get a hearing aid!!!!! What's EVEN BETTER is that my doctor doesn't know what is wrong with me!!! He has a few ideas... my surgery could last anywhere from 15 minutes to they have to do another one!!!! YEP!! Definently need your prayers!! BUT I'M SO EXCITED!!!!!!! I will miss being able to use the excuse That I am half deaf.... Do you know how HANDY that is sometimes?!
I'm gonna have a tympanoplasty w/o mastoidectomy with occicular chain reconstruction!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
FYI- That means that they are cutting into the tympanic membrane of the ear drum (tympanoplasty) w/o cutting into the mastoid, behind the ear (mastoidectmy) and fixing the chain of bones in my ear (occicular chain reconstruction)

Paladin D
That's great, God Bless! I've had my own share of ear problems, such as my ear drum rupturing, and also having fluid in my ears for a while (thus doing severe damage to my speech). I talked as if I was underwater, and everyone barely understood me. Thank God though I talk MUCH better now, just like an average person.

~*AnCoRa33*~
Thank ya'll sooooo much for your many prayers!! As it turns out, I've had so many ear infections that the scar tissue just built up around the bones in my ear and literally froze them in place so they couldn't work correctly!! I was in the OR for 4 hours while he was scraping it out and he was seriously considering just taking it all out and putting in a prosthetic (sp?) bone..... Now I'm just dizzy, tired and have ALOT of cotton in my ear! !! Please keep praying for my continued recovery!! Right now, my hearing is about 10 times worse.................... He said that would happen though.......... hee hee Pax Christi, Rebecca <><
Iacobus
Praying for ya. I know what it is like to not hear very good. I produce a TON of ear wax and if I don't clean them every day they get real bad and even if I do I have to have my mum or someone do it once a month or so it make sure they are real clear or else I am hard of hearing. A bit. I have super hearing when they are clean so I suppose when they are dirty it isn't that bad. But I notice it so I am praying for ya.
