Winchester
Stay home on election day. Pray a rosary. Or just eat ice cream straight out of the carton. You will have as much effect on the American murder machine whether you vote or not. Edited April 13, 2015 by Winchester
Gabriela
In Israel it's illegal to campaign until just a few months before the election. We should pass that law here.
Winchester
So incumbents have an even greater advantage, since their term in office provides name recognition and essentially amounts to a campaign. You're advocating that campaigning be prevented through threat of violence. I'm out. Edited April 13, 2015 by Winchester

superblue
i am literally done voting, I barely pray for our government anymore ( on occasion I will ) , and don't knock violence, it worked in separating the nation from the crown. It can work again, but won't happen because everyone is just too darn cozy. It is way easier now to just hope, pray, and vote , than it is to do what was done back in the 1770s.They say history repeats itself, but the revolution and the civil war will never be repeated because of the way the two parties work together to make sure it wont happen again. You would have a split in the military and the world would watch in disbelief. An some might take part to a degree.... others would wait to see what happens and try to maneuver to a position to benefit themselves after the fact.but yeah voting... if you want to do a real write in candidate try Ronald Regan and Abraham Lincoln, or Cheech n Chong. For some reason voting still makes waves, but it is like voting between getting kicked n the face, or punched in the face. superblue
I support a revolution to overthrow the central banking system and our developing political oligarchy. I support that as long as we can throw in some political special interest groups, and put an end to the department of education and some other government run buttons. Nihil Obstat
You guys are all really excitable. Did you not see this coming since about June 2008?
CatherineM
No surprise. Our election campaigns here last a month to 6 weeks. If the same happened in the U.S., Hillary would have been nominated last time. Have no idea who I'll vote for, but not her.
Catlick
From political thought's point of view I am interested in the perseverance (and arguably even the rise) of political dynasties. Unlike many other traditionally aristocratic elements of democracy, this won't die out. Or has it shifted from being aristocratic to being oligarchic? Anyway, long live Catholic monarchy! Viva Cristo Rey!
CrossCuT
I know in countries like Sweden there is a limit to how much funding a campaign can have thus making it a more equal playing ground. I dont like the idea that corporations as people can donate a bazillion dollars for their candidate and then receive special favors as a result which essentially screws all us normal people who can donate even a fraction of a fraction of that magnitude. (This all considering money = vote of course) Edited April 13, 2015 by CrossCuT
Catlick
You can legislate how the legislators are elected, subsequently the legislators will legislate how they themselves are to be re-elected. Democracy is a farce. Let's not waste any words on fixing it.
Anastasia13
Yes, stay home, because evil flourishes when good men do nothing. And while you are at it, don't help any campaigns, donate to any good candidates, or do anything to get supporters of good candidates to the polls. Also, don't write letters to editors about politics, call and ask questions that require a clear answer showing someone else is better when you listen to political talk radio. And whatever you do, do not suggest your friends vote for a better candidate! You must never lend your voice to a loud cry for change and bring others to help its echo. truthfinder
They say history repeats itself, but the revolution and the civil war will never be repeated because of the way the two parties work together to make sure it wont happen again. . No, history does not repeat itself. History is not inevitable. Sometimes it is similar, and sometimes the superstructures of society make it very hard for people to exert agency, but again, history does not repeat, it is not doomed to happen. God is Lord of History. I do believe American politics needs a major overhaul; I really don't understand a two party system. But nothing changes if you sit at home doing nothing. Fight back in the ways you can, which sometimes means getting involved in the system yourself with the hopes of reform. Or help those who are. I certainly did not want Obama becoming president; but Hilary actually scares me. And like Nihil has said, we've been expecting this election call for years. (ps. Since everyone else is relating election trivia, the important law around where I live is that you must have election signs down within a couple days of the election. That seems to be the law that everyone actually cares about.)
