Gregorian chants and Latin hymns.

Real Charismatic has always been in the Church... St. Francis, St. Pio, Fr. Sudac, etc... There is not a real renewal because it has never left.

protestant Charisimaticism has no place in the Church... it's not real. Mass is Worship, not entertainment.

I agree. That's why the Charismatic movement must go. It is not real charismaticism (i.e., the charismatic gifts). It is protestant.

Thin ice on this issue, thin ice.

I doubly agree!

I disagree. Why?

You are speaking broadly as to what the charismatic movement is and what the gifts are. The Church has always been Charismatic and Love of the Holy Ghost has always produced fruits (and gifts!).

I am not a fan of it personaly. I am a more resevred person and the upbeat music and arm waving and stuff isn't more. What worries me about it (the mumbling, waving, etc) is it could every easily distract a person or be distracting to others. Try playing in a band with horn flashs. Soon the flashs take over and the music goes down. It is distracting and take some focus off the true scarafice of the Mass. But that is my personal view.

It can help some people or intrest people in the Church and keep them there. But I am worried, esp in light of a comment made at a NET Retreat I was on, that people are going to Mass not for Christ but for the fun and social interaction and entiermantemt. This worries me.

I voted mixed feelings. It can be good but it can also be abused rather easily, like Lifeteen.

:o I think I'm typing in tongues

ammanamanamanababablababababa Ashibabababa ababba Akeeabababababaab

lol

no offense to those in the Charismatic Movement, it's just that their tongues have never convinced me, it's just so easy to fake and sound exactly the same as them. There was only one person who sounded real to me once, but it was a shorter line that could have been rehearsed or something.

I don't know about it, but those "tongues" always sound iffy to me

I think someone was mentioning the "fruits of the Spirit" earlier in this discussion. The other day I made this discovery; it is a Protestant term, I haven't seen it used in any faithful Catholic context.

By the way, where HAS the Church talked about the "Charasmatic renewal"? and I don't need a part of a speech or document that talks about the gifts of the Holy Spirit, the Gifts of the Spirit has nothing to do with tongues.
