The new brigade will answer to the government of Iraq's autonomous Kurdish region, whose peshmerga fighters are playing a leading role in the war against the jihadists. Lilllabettt
the clash of civilizations is something ISIS wants. Their ideology is based on the idea that an apocalyptic battle with Christians and other nonbelievers will usher in the caliphate. unwise to organize a military response around religious adherence. plays into their hands. I see nothing wrong with Christians banding together and defending themselves against ISIS. It's very heroic and brave, and my first thought when I saw this was "If I lived in that area, I would join them." If a quarter of all Catholic men banded together and fought ISIS, ISIS would be no more within a year. We outnumber them greatly. The only thing they have that we don't is zeal for their faith, and that is the winning factor. They have people willing to die for their faith, and we have very little, despite heavily outnumbering them.

Ultimately, this is not a battle against human rights, this is not a battle against land, and this is not a battle against people in the Middle East -- this is war against the faith. And when the faith is attacked, it is our duty as Christians to defend it, even to our deaths.

And what was unpleasant about "Ah, of course." And why are you still here? Are you afraid you'll forget to reply as well?? I honestly thought you were going to give us a break for Lent! Are you afraid you'll forget to reply as well?? I honestly thought you were going to give us a break for Lent! That is interesting, because I am never on except for weekends. Trust me, I have no desire whatsoever to be on here more than is allowed. The only reason I'm responding to you is because I get email notifications that you've responded, and I have given myself no Lenten restriction on viewing email. It sounded sarcastic and skeptical.
