An Historian
Okay so I'm sorted with a place to stay an a job. Thanks be to God. But I'm still staying in a hostel. Today a Spanish girl moves in to the room. She can speak English rather well, but is a bit lost on what to do. She came for the same reasons I did - to look for employment and housing. The state of the Spanish economy.. well I can't blame her. But she's woefully under prepared for it. I'm going to email her a brief explanation of what she needs to be doing right now and the websites she needs to visit for work, etc. But doing so in English might be too difficult. So in your charity in the season of Lent, I would ask if any Spanish or French speaker could volunteer their assistance by translating what I intend to send her. Anomaly
I suggest giving her a link to Google Translate.
TheresaThoma
I speak French (not fluently but enough to maintain a conversation and survive by myself in France for 10 days). Let me know and I would be willing to help. Edited to add. Maybe if she is willing sit down with her and help her navigate some of the websites. I know from my work at a home of hospitality for homeless pregnant women, all of them native english speakers, they still needed a good deal of mentoring in the job search. I could post all the signs and resources but at the end of the day the most effective thing was to it with them and go through the websites.
