Lilllabettt
I have read a few times that potential employers are more somewhat likely to contact applicants with easy names. Kind of a semi-conscious preference. They have a slight preference towards just simply not dealing with the potential embarrassment/awkwardness of mispronouncing an unfamiliar name. (And possible unconscious racial stuff for foreign names, who knows.) I can definitely see that happening. Now that I think about it, most people I work for / interview with call me by my first name. I assumed its because that's the trend nowadays, but now I realize it may be more likely they don't want to touch my last name with a ten foot pole. Tony
I honestly don't know which to suggest, but I can pray you find the right one :)
MarysLittleFlower
Lilllabettt, I'm sorry if I sounded passive aggressive. The reason for how my response sounded was that I couldn't figure out what to think on the topic. I wanted to answer the question about which last name is good. I'm going to be honest though that there is something in me that's uncomfortable with the idea of naming myself and I felt dishonest not saying that at all.. But I didn't want to sound aggressive either or like I'm attacking you. I realized even then it sounded either arrogant or preachy but it was late and I couldn't think of a way to change it. Obviously I can't tell you what to think. For myself I like the idea of God or my parents naming me but I don't expect everyone else to feel that way. oratefratres
I have to admire the OP greatly, she is doing exaclt y as she wishes. probably many people would want to do this but would wimp out. Lillabett - are you doing it by Deed Poll? This is so awesome. So, like your work collegues etc - " "my name is Elizabeth Barringer" "omg did you get married???" "no. I changed my name"" "omg no way why???" "felt like it" Gotta say this lady is awesome
