PhuturePriest
"Mansome" is a documentary on Netflix about basically the feminization of male looks, featuring Jason Bateman and Will Arnett. As a guy who has pretty much shaved his entire body at one point or another, it piqued my interest. Anybody else seen it? What are your thoughts? It's quite interesting and entertaining if you haven't seen it already, and it's well worth the hour. It speaks about the societal shunning of facial hair at the first part, which I found rather interesting, and it has a very interesting segment about the "metrosexual" movement, featuring a dude who is possibly the vainest man on the planet. Nihil Obstat
The very recent, trendy reaction is the so-called 'lumbersexual'. (Metrosexual + lumberjack) I find the word kind of creepy and embarrassing to even say. (╯︵╰,) But such is life. Basically the trend this year was hipster-type guys who try to take on the lumberjack look. IMO it is basically just a shallow, 'ironic' macho-izing of the kind of effeminate look that you are describing. http://www.cbc.ca/newsblogs/yourcommunity/2014/11/lumbersexual-trend-thrusts-rugged-hipsters-into-mens-fashion-spotlight.html Basically, as usual, we are still waiting and will be eternally disappointed in hoping for a more authentic masculinity

Nihil Obstat
On the upside, my beard is trendy at the moment. It definitely was not when I started growing it in 2009/2010. I mean, I will continue growing it either way. But right now I am cool because of it. (;¬_¬)

ChristianGirlForever
Honest answer? The second man. I don't want to be cruel, but Justin Bieber looks very feminine. We girls don't generally like that. You made me laugh, though. :)
truthfinder
I remember seeing some sort of analysis of Zac Effron on how Disney had to make him attractive but non-sexual and that now there has to be some sort of transition to a more "real" sexuality. Basically, getting young girls to see a feminine masculinity as attractive. blergh
ChristianGirlForever
Feminine masculinity sounds like a comtradiction... I'm really glad I'm not growing up now. :-/

We girls don't generally like that. You made me laugh, though. :) The second man is Blessed Giorgio Frassati, who was a very manly man. I was just making a joke because the striking differences between the two is almost shocking. The concept of the male pop star today is to make men pretty, which of course flies in the face of masculinity. Men aren't "pretty". It's just not how it works. For goodness' sake, if you look at the picture, Justin Bieber is actually wearing lipstick. :|
ChristianGirlForever
Oh, good grief. What kind of a guy would be caught dead wearing lipstick?! Truthfinder's post helps me to understand why teenaged girls find him attractive. I still don't understand it, but I *suppose* that if tween girls are bombarded with make-up wearing boys, they could get brain-washed. You're quite right, Future Priest. Men are not supposed to look pretty. Men and women look different for a reason. We are attracted to the opposite. Well, I guess I realized you were kidding because you made me laugh. :)

(No pun intended.) It's a mad, mad, mad, mad world. I can't keep up with all the different descriptions used for girly guys. It gets pretty confusing.
