PhuturePriest
This summer (Though 3 out of 4 of my friends don't know it), I and 3-4 of my guy friends are going on a week-long road trip. It is both for the experience and for the metaphoric resonance: We're adults, but we still have the one remnant of adolescence that is having no responsibilities. So we will go on a road trip, splurging money unnecessarily, and celebrating a momentous landmark of our lives -- a final, magnificent, glorious charge of fantastic, irresponsible fun. We have the car. We have the plans to make the money. We most certainly have the desire. However, we're debating as to where we should go. We could go to Canada, which is cool because it's a different country plus the main benefit of it being legal to drink. We could also go to California and go to a cool theme park, or the Northeast, or Florida, etc. What are your suggestions? Where should we go on this historic campaign of irresponsibility that we will each one day look upon fondly as we lie in utmost agony upon our deathbeds? Nihil Obstat
Legal to drink in Canada at least in some provinces. Namely Alberta, which is the best one anyway.
PhuturePriest
It seems we are going to the East Coast. Where should we go? What should we do?
Luigi
Colorado. Mountains - fun driving, impressive views, state parks, camping. Big city - bars, concerts, baseball. College towns - bars, concerts, and people the likes of which you've never dreamed much less seen. Not only is drinking legal, dope is, too. And when you get yourselves into trouble - which you will surely do - your parents won't have to drive all that far to throw your bail and salvage your sorry backsides. Nihil Obstat
The cathedral in Portland Maine has a lovely Latin Mass community.
truthfinder
It seems we are going to the East Coast. Where should we go? What should we do? That leaves you with Ontario eastward. Cottage country is nice (supposedly). Then you've got Toronto or Ottawa. Quebec is beautiful; drinking age is also lower than Ontario (18). Otherwise you've got the Maritimes and the Atlantic provinces -all depends on what exactly you want to see.

It doesn't have to be in Canada. The title is probably confusing. We're just talking about the East Coast in general, meaning America as well. We are mostly interested in visiting sites of famous battles, though I am demanding we go to a theme park somewhere along the trip.
Nihil Obstat
Even though you are leaning towards the Revolutionary War, I would highly recommend Quebec City and seeing the Plains of Abraham.
PhuturePriest
Revolutionary War and Civil War. Gettysburg is a must-visit. We're also going to swim in the ocean.

PhuturePriest
We are such history nerds. We've literally decided that from now on, everything related to this trip will be done in war terms. We're not "visiting" anywhere, but rather embarking on a military campaign and "invading and conquering". We have also given each of us military ranks. I am Supreme Commander of the Army. My friend Anthony is Hetman (Polish for Cavalry Commander), Brady is General, Purcell is Field Marshal, and Henry is court jester. This has all been decided by me and Anthony. Hopefully everyone else enjoys their titles.

Oremus Pro Invicem
That is jaw-dropping. I know, I've always wanted to see it. Thinking about doing a Canada and New England cruise and have it end in Montreal. Holland America has a priest on every sailing so there's my chance to visit other ports and go to mass every day. Win, win.

We're going to D.C. to hit all the Civil War sites, then through New England to hit the Revolution sites, and then go to Quebec. Or that's at least what I and one other friend want to do. The others don't even know they're embarking on this military campaign yet. :P
