Prayers For My Last Day Working

tomorrow is my last day working at a job I have had for almost 5 years. I have been faithful to my nursing career but know that now is the time to pursue my dream of monastic life. I have prayed about it since I was 22. Now I am 28. I have decerned with the same community all along. I have had many obstacles to overcome, almost 25k in student loans, a sick father that needed to go to a nursing home, transfer of a house morgage out of my name, various other smaller trials. I know that the Lord and the Virgin Mary have guided me thru all this, along with the prayers of the Saints and the Holy monastic community I pray to officially enter. I will be moving to the monastery Feb 1. the eve of the presentation of the Lord. I will live for sometime there before officially becoming a novice. I have had the great experience of sharing with people at work in the ER about my intentions and future plans. I have valued this time as a time to witness for Christ. I have received many good questions from people but have had to endure some pretty harsh comments from others. This calling to Become a Bride of Christ is not easily understood in this fallen world and some people just don't get it but that's okay. People respect me for following my dreams. I have always had a dream of nursing but the this career was the mode in which our Lord has used for me to grow into my calling and was the best preparation for the Holy monastic life. More recently when I began to get overwelmed with the every little detail from money to insurance to what to do about my car, etc, I was reminded to take things one day at a time. This calling did not happen over night and like my mom said it has been there my whole life even before I recognized it.

For anyone who is struggling with discernment: Seek the Lords Will daily. Live simply. Pray often. Learn patience and Humility. live in the Moment and not worry about tomorrow. Keep praying for the Lord to grant you the desire of your heart. HE WILL LEAD YOU. AMEN

I can't believe it's come around so quickly! I'm so happy for you! I was going to send you a card at work but time has caught up with me it looks like. Well what else can I say, enjoy your 'vacation' for the last ten days in the world and I'll hope to see you 'around' if you know what I mean :)

I remember you mentioning before that you're a nurse. I'm also a nurse and just reading through your post was reminding me of all the obstacles I'm going to have to work through to enter. They're simple things like you said, but everything from a mortgage to quitting a job to closing accounts is daunting to think about. I wish you all the best and will pray for you in your entrance and ongoing discernment :). Just remember all of us here in VS and keep us in your prayers please!

Thankyou all. This took alot.of discernment and Gods Grace to get to this point. GLORY TO GOD. I had worked out this timing with the Abbess of the community 20 months ago. But I had to work an additional month for financial reasons. We have our plans. But God has the perfect Timing.

Blessings! You and I are both moving to our respective new homes, convent and monastery, on the eve of the Lord's Presentation. I will be praying for you in a special way that night. :)

thank you. I am moving my things on Saturday in my vehicle. Sunday my family drops me off and takes my car! that is a big step. it is now a week since my last day of working, I do not feel "unemployed" and I know God will use my nursing skills and other talents for His church and the continuation of the monastery. a new generation. I am 28 and another sister is 32. then there is one in early 40s. Then you have 5 in early 60s. one almost 70, one almost 80 and one almost 90. They need younger women who are interested to continue what was started almost 50 years ago
