Amppax
Charlie Hebdo doesn't want our support. Said so themselves.

PhuturePriest
I don't know why everyone was so quick to throw their support behind them. Tragedy aside, these guys are huge jerks and all their jokes consist of mocking everyone who disagrees with them. Let's not let tragedy blind our critical thinking skills and thus realize that these guys are in no sense of the word heroes or role models, as everyone has been led to believe. But, this news has helped me decide to pray for them more.
Oremus Pro Invicem
I think Charlie Hebdo should understand that the bells ring for the souls not for their cause or in support of their magazine. We pray for the repose of all souls who depart this world, even those of our enemies if we have any. The unspeakable tragedy that happened there is deserved by no one and they deserve our prayers and support despite their tastelessness.

The unspeakable tragedy that happened there is deserved by no one and they deserve our prayers and support despite their tastelessness. Everyone I've seen has been lauding them as fearless heroes of liberty, who stood up for freedom in the face of tyranny, which even according to one of the owners of the company is not the case. Then again, I've been watching things like The Daily Show, so perhaps my perception of public thought on Charlie Hebdo is skewed.
Amppax
Good Lord, could the two of you stop bickering?! My goodness. I suppose this is mostly aimed at FP this time. Edited January 19, 2015 by Amppax

Who said anything about bickering? I thought this was merely civil discussion about current events.

Then again, I've been watching things like The Daily Show, so perhaps my perception of public thought on Charlie Hebdo is skewed.Yeah, I haven't watched much media coverage of it at all. Being prone to anxiety, I tend to avoid coverage on things like this. I'm always glad to know what's going on in the world, but not quick to watch extensive coverage. It doesn't surprise me that they want nothing from the Church (makes me think of the reaction typical of a small child), but of course we'll always pray for and empathize with those who are victims of senseless crime. Their actions may have provoked anger and outrage (and for that, they will be held responsible), but the action taken against their organization was heinous and unjustifiable. So I send my prayers up / out / over the rainbow for their peace and comfort in the midst of this great loss, that those affected come to know the Lord better in their grieving, and that the souls of the departed are shown great mercy. No, they aren't heroes, but we send them our love and good will anyway. As God and Hasan the Almighty Sultan as my witnesses, I will not let loose the llamas of drama.
