4LoveofJMJ
Well with World Youth Day 2016 fast approaching, it's time to start preparing and fundraising. I've never been and really want to go this time. I have a very special devotion to the Divine Mercy and St. Maria Faustina. Unfortunitly, no matter how much I tried, my parish (and diocese) is not going so I'm going to piggy back with the diocese next door. So any ideas on how to do fundraising? The diocese is not doing any group funding so I need to come up with the money on my own. Really hoping I can go!
Lil Red
I think I saw someone start a gofundme for their WYD trip.

Ash Wednesday
My husband and I had our first date at World Youth Day. Heck of a matchmaker, that John Paul II. Prayers!
franciscanheart
I mean there's the obvious: work. You could mow lawn, shovel snow, running errands. I don't know what your situation is, but there's always work to be done.

What about asking your local Knights of Columbus for assistance?

4LoveofJMJ
Starbucks is hiring and they pay above minimum wage. Plus, free food and drink when you work. The nearest Starbucks is 30 minutes away. :( I want to try looking for part time work around town but my parents are adamant against it because they don't want it interfering with my schooling. What about asking your local Knights of Columbus for assistance? I have thought about sending out one of those "please help fund me" letters but I have no idea how to word it. Has anyone ever done one of these before? Was there much success from it?

I needed money to help pay for my $500 plane ticket so I could go on my eight day visit with the Franciscans. I asked the Knights of Columbus if they could help me out, and they responded by paying every dime of the costs. I doubt the Knights will pay every bit of the thousands it requires for you to go to Poland, but I do recommend asking them for help. More often than not they are quite generous. Has anyone ever done one of these before? Was there much success from it? Here's my thoughts: Introduce yourself first - hi I'm blah blah, I'm 16 years old, I go to x high school. I attend blah blah parish. Then talk about why you're writing - I am hoping to go to WYD. My faith means blah blah blah, I'm active in x,y,z in my parish community, and my parents belong to x y z. Why do I want to go to WYD? I explain why here. So far I have reached $x amount in my goal of $x amount. I am looking for donations to my ultimate goal, and I am more than willing to work for donations doing yard work, house work, blah blah blah. If you would be willing to help in reaching my goal so that I could attend this great Catholic event, you can reach me at the below contacts: name address phone email Be assured of my prayers for your intentions, God bless Real signature Typed signature ============== also, I'm sure Hasan has helped to formulate lots of fundraising letters, you should ask him for help.
