MarysLittleFlower
I have to admit that I'm a trad but for me this has 0 to do with politics and everything to do with loving the spirituality of the Latin Mass and various devotions in the Church. But I really think these things are for all Catholics. So I'm trying to follow Church teachings and spirituality that I don't think is limited to a select group of Catholics. Whenever I get into researching more political stuff or Church events etc I lose what matters most... I just like making it about my relationship with God and thinking of how to love Him and grow. I don't think its wrong to get involved in stuff but we need to go into it with a strong interior life. Not that I don't struggle with that!!! The book 'Soul of the Apostolate' helped me with that A LOT. Basically Our Lord should come first... Personal holiness, live to know and love Him and develop an interior life and then apostolates etc help instead of distract. :) but if they distract take a break to pray. That has been my approach though I don't always use it... But when I focus on something other than God things fall apart more and more. No matter how good all my projects seem to me... Without Him we can do nothing like Our Lord said :) (By the way our FSSP priest did a talk on the death penalty and its not true that all trads think it should always be done. The traditional teaching on it actually allows choosing another option if it would be enough to protect society. And it was stated by the Pope or Bishops that today cases where only way to protect society is through death penalty - are practically not existent. We had this discussion with very traditional conservative Catholics and no one was super pro death penalty like what you mentioned... Is it more of an American thing maybe?)
