HopefulHeart
Hello! I recently joined Phatmass after lurking here for some time. I am a young Catholic woman in my second year of college, hoping to earn a bachelor's degree in English Lit. I would eventually like to teach English at the collegiate level. I enjoy reading a wide range of fiction works, from Jane Austen to H.P. Lovecraft. I am currently reading A Canticle for Leibowitz. I also like writing short stories, watching old movies, playing the piano, and drinking herbal tea. One of my favorite saints is St Joseph. I'm glad to be a member of this community! :)

HopefulHeart
Thanks for the welcome! I was an English major too. What lit classes have you taken. I'm currently at community college, so I've been working on getting my gen ed requirements out of the way. I have done early American lit, and I'm signed up for modern American and modern Brit next semester. I'm excited to do more specialized lit courses once I transfer to a 4-year school for my junior year. I'd like to specialize in 19th century British lit. A Canticle for Leibowitz is a GREAT book! Welcome aboard! I am really enjoying Canticle so far. It is rather unusual but very gripping!

And actually 19th century British novels was one of the classes I took, and I didn't want to take it at first, but I ended up loving it...who knew a guy could like Jane Austen and Charlotte Bronte lol. Nice! I love Jane Eyre, and Pride and Prejudice is really good as well, though I personally prefer Emma. :) Welcome. Love the avatar. St. Joseph is a pretty great Saint to be devoted to. I suppose they all are -- but you know what I mean! Yes, I know exactly what you mean! :)
