A Joke: On Their Way To Get Married, A Young Catholic Couple...

Jesus himself answered the question of whether we are married in heaven, actually. When the Pharisees (Or Sadducees, I can't remember; I'm not a Baptist) asked him if a woman lawfully married several men in her lifetime and asked which one in heaven she would be married to, Jesus said none of them, because there is no marriage in heaven. Or something along those lines. Again, I'm not a Baptist.

come on dud get u to speed I already said that, Jesus was commenting on a situation in Genesis which is a book filled more with legends than fiction. So that story may have never happened and was merely an anecdote to get people to be nice and actually procreate.

I'm not following how you came up with your idea that "taking away" excludes the removal of somethings existence?   I think it's pretty clear that the verse is saying God has dominion over all things and that He can do with them as He sees fit; including removing them from existence.

If marriage is not continued after the resurrection then it is not continued in Heaven.  If the marriage bond was not broken after death then a woman or man could not remarry when their spouse died.  If the bond did continue after death and a widow remarried then in heaven that person would be married to more than one person, which is polygamy.  Plus in the marriage vows it says "til death do us part" so it's clear the bond does not continue after death.

I came up with "taking away" for not including taking from existence. because as I said God is a God of creation not destruction. He possibly could remove something from existence but, like that sandwich that is so big he cannot eat it in one bite, it would be contrary to his nature therefore something he would not do.

As for the your point on till death do we part you have a point I cannot dispute. If i were to ignore it to respond to your other points in restating how I do not know what marriage would look like in heaven. so I am sure there will be a program of some sort to help those with a multiple spousal predicament.

There is a solution, it's called "no marriage".  It resolves the multiple spousal predicament which is why Christ, when faced with a question regarding said predicament, stated that at the resurrection there would be no marriage.   God creates all things with a purpose.  Sometimes that purpose to to be with Him eternally in heaven.  Other times that purpose is for that thing to exist for a period of time and then cease to exist later on.   Whatever the case, God is the beginning and end of all things, including marriage.

Also have you considered that in heaven your view of the person who was once your spouse on earth will be different? Have you considered that maybe a reason for why there is no marriage in heaven is because in light of the beatific vision we will no longer view each other in such a way as we do know? hence why we will be like the angels in heaven.

I see what you mean... We have come full circle. I am defeated :winner: ... for now.

can you give any examples of things that have gone from existence?
My first thought was the Jewish Law. but even then Jesus said that it was not destroyed but was fulfilled.

Why yes of course I have but throughout marriage your spouse changes and you see them differently and that is one of the challenges of marriage is to overcome those changes and Love no matter what. Also after death every thing will become perfect so if anything that love between spouses would become perfect.

Animal and plant souls cease to exist after death.

I think we can find an agreement here.  I believe when we see each other in heaven, in the beatific vision, our knowledge of each other will be perfect.  We will see each other as God sees us, and thus our relationship with each other will be perfected and different than the ones we have right now as fallen human beings on earth.   In short the marriage bond couples shared on earth will be transfigured in heaven and thus will be something completely different than what we once had on earth (that is if we were married and if both spouses make it to heaven).

That is assuming that they do. I have already mentioned that I feel that isn't possible under the fact that I seems contradictory to God's Creating nature.

That is totally something I can agree to. I'd personally would call the transfigured relationship Marriage, since that is what it was here on earth.
