Wow, I just joined the new forum yesterday, and now I guess we're back at the old forum where I used to lurk. I liked the groups on the new forum, but I'll make myself at home here.

I'll have to make a thread on the lame board for our Michael Redgrave fangirling club Old Movies fanclub. :hehe2:

Oh yes, that's a priority.  :hehe2:

I knew there was a reason I did not join that group.

Ash Wednesday

This phorum has a much more intuitive usage of space. I feel like I just got back into a more comfortable pair of shoes.

Seriously though, I tried very hard for weeks to get that new forum working how I wanted, but ended up so frustrated. I didn't realized how un-ready bbPress is to be an actual forum.

There is good news though... In my frustration, I ended up finding a way to allow all of you to use your phorum login name to login to the rest of phatmass. So, I will be putting this to good use (hopefully).

That must have been a lot of work, dUSt.  I'm sorry it didn't work out.  I thought it looked very clean and sleek, but I think that people who have been using your forum for a long time felt as though they had been stood on their heads.

Just thinking out loud here, but what about just slowly tuning a/the new forum while we use this one, no rush, no time pressure, and just switch when the bugs are worked out? Like give yourself a time frame of a few months to a year.
Or is it too much to maintain this one at the same time?

Wah, I miss the old forum. I'm sorry it didn't work out but I understand. Give it a week or two and phatmass will be back to her old self :)

As I said in another thread just now, it feels good to have the "old" forum back.

I don't think the experiment in the new forum was a loss. I can't speak for anyone else, but it got me to pay more attention to how I currently use the forum and what I want.

Still, as I said earlier, I decided this afternoon, before I logged in just now, that I wished the old forum was back. There were some interesting features in the new forum, but the features we lost from the old forum outweighed what we gained in the new forum.

Thanks for all your hard work, dUSt!!!

You will still have access to articles. Your phorum login can now be used to comment on articles, leave reviews, write articles, etc.

Very nice. Worth propping even.
