Makarioi
Greetings, I know the Rosary has mysteries that are to be prayed on certain days of the week. Does your Rosary / intention still 'count' if you don't pray with the mysteries? Getting restarted praying the Rosary after a time without, I can't remember all the mysteries yet and I don't always have my cheat sheet with me. Also, friends tell me it's ok to pray it while driving. That seems too distracting. Thank you for all you do
cappie
The practice of praying the Our Fathers and Hail Marys (and even Kyries) on beads started early in the Church and continued to evolve through the 12th century with the structure of the prayer evolving through the 15th C. Since the mysteries themselves are a fairly late addition to the Rosary, added by the Dominicans in the 16th Century, and added to again by St John Paul. I would say there isn't anything wrong with praying the Rosary without the mysteries. However, the indulgence attached to praying the Rosary requires meditation on the mysteries as one of the conditions. However, you can pray with contemplation on the words of the prayers themselves and that is still a very good prayer.
