I'll build a royal tower at the highest point so it overlooks the entire island. Everyone (including me, i will be a humble king helping everyone) will help buidling up everything and making sure we have good fishing, hunting, and farming keeping the island's entire ecosystem in good harmony.

I guess the first order of business would be to clear out good pathways. If we generate a surplus of funds in our fundraising we'll be able to get supplies from the mainland. If you guys have your own tents now, save them, because this country's starting out with humble beginings: we'll be sleeping in tents. If we clear out good pathways and good spots for our tents, then we'll begin building The Royal Tower and houses for other people. Who is good at fishing? Who is good at farming? We need all of you. I'm gonna study business, economics, history, languages (we prolly won't get the exact island we're thinking of now, it may be near spain or france or something) and foreign affairs in my next 5 years of education. Everyone grow in skills and knowledge.

Do you realize if we can pull this off we'll be legends?

Optimism, CHILD-LIKE Optimisim, is the way to go. Never say we can't do this.

This is my life's mission.

If you believe in the dream, post!

It might sound crazy, but i am serious. We are going to live in a simple monarchial kingdom. Everyone puts in their share of work so they can trade goods they attain through their work. We will have a person who specializes in getting technology and what not from other countries and they can trade it in Athanasian markets where they can get furs and such. It'll be a simple trade economy, we'll havta have a bridge to the modern craziness of the world's economy, but overall we simply grow, hunt, and fish for food, and trade around for what we need. In this place when someone says "can I do anything for you?" they better mean it.

And if we give this example to the world, we will fulfil our vocation by being a city set on a hill that cannot be hidden. The world will see a new Christian Nation that prospers without their craziness. May God be with us (whoever is willing to join in with us)!

Hmmm can we call it Flordia? LOL! Everyone stop trying to make things better where you are and move away! RDF!

It's not like we're going to usurp the entire Catholic Movement out of countries that need to be made better, we're creating a small Catholic Kingdom. The idea is to be an example to the world!

It will show them simplicity, that all this complexity and craziness they created doesn't have to be there. If you don't feel called, you don't have to be involved. But i believe in this, this is what i have to do. We're setting out to make an impact on the world in a different way

LOL! Yes but what Winthrop wanted was to build a City on the Hill. A shining example of Christian living.

Thy Geekdom Come

I'd get the one of the coast of Australia.

Tell you what-if I win the lottery and it's big enough, I'll buy Athanasia for us...a refuge for Phatmassers!

Haha. Actually, Aloysius already sent me a link to a photo of the island. Small town, maybe...city, no. But hey, we can have a small country, that's okay.

At the very least, this would be a great resort for us Phatmassers. I'd buy a cottage there.

Truth be told, I think the best options are

1) Turners Island

2) Psyche Island

3) Marrs Island

4) Frechette Island

All of these are over 100 acres, so they could support farming, and they are all under 1 million Canadian dollars. They are all off of the Nova Scotian coast.

If we want to get extravagant, the best deal would be something like Bock Cay or Kaikoura island.

I think the most important thing here would be remembering that if you are making a country, you'd need to support the people so it would need to be big enough for a farm.

I think the biggest potential money maker would be tourism. And unless it's against Church laws, I actually think that growing marijiana would be a quick way to pay off the island.

what do you think of Harbour Island?

it says it's sold with 1000 acres on the main land!
This undeveloped island lies directly off the coast of Guysborough County, only a 1/4 mile from the small town of Drum Head in the mouth of the St. Mary River. The island is well wooded, has sandy beaches and offers a natural harbour. The island was in the past farmed. Opposite the island there is a public wharf which can be utilized. An exceptional island with interesting geological formations and minerals.

Although i'd rather have a diff location, this is lookin good. I don't know what we'd do with the 1000 acres of forest though, but the island looks cool.

what's +15% HST mean?
