Lil Red
Do I think that blazeingstar has a dismissive (and kind of b*tchy) attitude towards people and how they actually parent (especially since she wants us to respect how she will parent)? Yes. But to dissect her marriage? Call into question if she'll get into heaven? Come on, people, that's crossing a line. Leave that to her spiritual director. But of course, I'm just an observer around these parts, ignore as you please.
Winchester
No offense to your parents, but that's just really, really poor parenting. I am unsure of why people think that it's ok to stop teaching a child to enjoy (or at least tolerate) food at a young age, and then religion as a teen, when they "force" the kid into 12 years of traditional education. The ability to eat is far more important than physics. Whenever someone says "no offense", they're about to say something they damned well know is going to cause offense. It's like when someone says "I'm not racist". You know you're about to hear something racist.
Winchester
Anyone else think that someday, a marriage on here is going to end up on one of those true crime shows on cable?

Yes because occasionally cooking squishy foods for my husband is akin to making me an axe murder...or are you saying he'll get me. Cause that's funny. He won't even kill spiders. I mostly agree with you, but I think people who purport to be Christian should be called out when they adhere to un-Christian philosophies or behave as such. It's usually futile, which is why I stay out of it for the most part. Especially with stubborn people. To be fair I don't like being told I'm wrong and my first reaction is to strike back. And wow this thread has gone miles on topic. Typical :)

And wow this thread has gone miles on topic. Typical :) Meh, So curiosing was offended, and now that poster has blocked me. He was also mad becuase I spoke about American business law...which I have no control over and cannot change. I do think people handle food-related mental illness with kid gloves and I'm 99% sure that one of my friends with anorexia has had her life destroyed because of some of the therepies that told her she had no control. Flip to several of her other friends who were given more hard knock therepy...they are recoverd while she still languishes at home while her parents cater to her disorder. becuase it's "out of her control" now in her mid-30's she's facing ailing parents (they were in their late 30's when they had her) and may be destitute and on the street. I also know alot about processed food and know that those "picky eaters", especally those with neurological issues are probably not picky at all but literally are addicted to those chemicals. My husband's cousin, who was allowed to eat ridiculously processed foods gets migraines if he doesn't have insanely salty foods...foods that would kill my grandmother (needs a salt free diet) on the spot. It aint' flying in my house. And actually, it's not really acceptance I was looking for, but someone saying they'd track me down and get my kids taken away from me for my behavior. I wanted to laugh. but alas, none of you were foolish enough to suggest so. And basically, the idea that Christians must be saints with site that dosn't stank is utterly redicioulus and why we have so many interal issues in the Church today. But it is telling that you've become defensive. Meh. you'll find ways to pick fights no matter what winch. I have fun replying to your nonsense with more nonsense. Given I was the only one talking about my husband I figured you were speaking about me. But maybe you have some kind of divine omnicience to see into other poster's souls. So far as I know Dust hasn't granted you this ability.

Not everyone will respond the same way to illnesses, trauma and the treatment thereof. I don't deal with a food-related disorder, but there are things that have crushed me that didn't seem to bother other people too much, and there are other things that I've accepted as "just a part of life" that some of my friends couldn't handle. There have been people who tried to "fix" me who obviously had no idea what I needed. It's not just a matter of "This works and that doesn't." Some things will work for some people, different things for different people, and with others, maybe nothing works - at least not with the expected results. I was hit by a 1.7 mile wide EF5 tornado when I was ten that destroyed pretty much my entire town, and all the kids I knew cried and couldn't believe everything was destroyed, but I was perfectly fine and just thought it looked cool. Nihil Obstat
I experienced anorexia as a symptom of Crohn's disease. Not anorexia nervosa, mind you. This was not a psychological or neurological thing; it was a physical response to my illness. Most meals I would sit down and eat 1/4 or 1/3 of a normal portion, then feel full like I had just eaten a giant holiday turkey dinner. Combining that with my other symptoms of Crohn's, I ended up losing about 40 pounds over a one year period where I should have gained 10-20 to stay in line with my height. I definitely would have been in the "COOL a tornado!!" camp. My family lived in Tornado Alley when I was a kid and when there were storm warnings, we'd all go over to the neighbor's basement (we didn't have one of our own) and I'd be trying to look out the cellar windows and mom would be trying to get me far far away from them...
