Chiquitunga
Wow! That is so neat though. Thanks for sharing! I met someone visiting the Sisters of Bethlehem in NY who also visited that particular Charterhouse as well, http://www.chartreux.org/en/houses/notre-dame/pictures.php She didn't feel called there after visiting either. Credo in Deum
I enjoy soft music. Gregorian chant is one of my favorite genres. Gregorian chant is sacred music, not soft.
superblue
:| it's usually best to not feed the... well, you know. well it really isn't proper either to keep feeding a child, more dillisuinonal props that everything that happened was totally uncalled for , and lets forget to not tell a child, that just because someone asks you to play a song that comes to mind, especially in a religious setting that it is probably not the best idea to pick a tune with the word Satan in the title, a little common sense goes a long way, i assume an educated person would have probably picked something with out Satan in the title, or heck i dunno maybe even a religious tune. Or lets say the person did ask for a particular song to be played, to then turn around and get yelled at for playing it, how about asking why then didn't he step up an say woa hoss,i was told to play this dont get on my case about it. Tell him something other than , it's okay lil one everything will be fine.
superblue
It's awfully funny that a person with no basic grasp of moral theology and whom wasn't an eye-witness is now making accusations of crossing boundaries. Not only did I not simply walk in, demand a guitar, and start blaring it, but they begged me to play and handed me an acoustic guitar, which can no more blare music than it can even properly play rock music. Musical notes and chords are morally neutral. Let's just say AC/DC is indeed Satanic, and I played their hit song "Satan Is My Bestie", there is nothing wrong with the notes and chords in that song. The lyrics are morally wrong and spiritually dangerous, but there is no such thing as a Satanic or evil note. Besides, the friar told me "Play me what you know." I fulfilled his own request: I know AC/DC, so I played it. He did not clarify, he did not make specifications. He merely told me to play what came to my mind, and so I did. Forgive me for automatically playing music from a band I am incredibly familiar with at a friar's request. How may I make it up to you for daring to make a joke and express a sentiment on my own thread which you do not approve of? Really, I would like to know. I can do anything short of a million dollars, really. it is even funnier to actually witness you claiming to know what i do or do not know, i had no idea we had such a close relationship. Bravo on this thread of yours, i had no idea though that in a public forum criticism on your thread was not allowed, i must have missed that in the T.O.S part. You spent the first part of this thread absolutely complaining about just about everything from music, to being told why you ( i suspect it was direct at you since you didnt mention who it was aimed at ) shouldnt read Harry Potter, forget the fact that there are good reasons why impressionable young children shouldn't read it lets just throw in the towel and call who ever said it ignorant and that it was wrong to criticze Harry Potter in any way. Then you cant clarify if you were told to play an AC/DC song or not, because if as you say you were told to play what you know, a lil bit of thinking is required, if the Choir in Church is warming up before mass, i wouldn't expect to hear any secular songs playing, so considering you were in a religious environment, perhaps a nice melody or a religious melody is something they were expecting to hear. And instead all that i took from your thread was that you were so uncomfortable being there, didn't appreciate anything, because if you did we probably would have heard more of, wow the food was great, they were really kind to me, etc, but off hand if i was new, i would have been terrified for you, thinking you walked into the most odd ball group of Franscians ever that might not even really be an authorized religious order. You would have done yourself a favor, i mean heck one way of looking at the struggles you went through, it could have simply been a test to see if you could take the hardships to come, but nope it didnt appear you learned anything from it. There are going to be plenty more hardships on the road ahead, far worse than getting fussed at for playing the wrong music or having to kneel on hard floors and actually having to pray, i mean good grief praying on a hard wood floor before breakfast, the lunacy of it ! everyone acts like this road is so super joyful easy pickings and it is going to be puppy dog toots and baby laughs the entire time. Try thinking about what you are going to do, if some where down the line you get accepted any where, and say 3 years in you are asked to leave, because for what ever reason they feel you are not a fit for them. Then what ? I guess it will be less painful than kneeling on a hard floor before breakfast to pray, and what ever made ya fall into tears. it may come off jerky, but it is a possiblity that if one doesnt look at , at some point in time, it could bite em in the rear later. More over, what are you going to do if the order or diocese you are interested in has one person in it, who just doesnt like you, for what ever reason, but you like the rest of them.... I have a more or less strict policy when it comes to trolls, so I leave you with these two thoughts: I pray for you, and I pray specifically that you find an English mechanics class somewhere near you.
