Spanish Legion And Christ Of The Good Death

I did not serve in the legion, I did mountain troops, but it looks impressive, the Spanish legionnaires are not renowned for good people, but good soldiers. I think God will have this in mind. Holy Week in Spain.

Found on wikipedia: Legionaries consider themselves novios de la muerte ("bridegrooms of death").

  • The legion's motto was Â¡Viva la muerte! ("Long live death!")[9] It fell into disuse after the death of Francisco Franco.

If I'm not mistaken, the French Legionnaires also have/or had, some almost fatalistic attitudes towards death in battle.

Is that as ironic in Spanish as it is in English?
