PhuturePriest
Blah, that's terrible. The $33,000 is calculating tuition, residency, and books -- the whole shebang, really. Although it's not as bad as Notre Dame (With its tuition of over $60,000), it should still be marked as a crime against humanity, in my opinion. :P
Lilllabettt
these are sticker prices. The sticker is what wealthy families pay. Most private universities drastically reduce the sticker price for students from middle class families. My private undergrad cost me around 10 grand a year (down from 60k). Harvard undergrad and most ivies are free for families making less than 70k. It's just that Catholic schools stink big time in this area. CatherineM
I went to school with a guy who made money while in college. He worked at night at 7-11 where he did his studying. After work, he took a shower in the gym. He kept two laundry baskets in his trunk. One for clean clothes and one for dirty. He did morning classes, and then slept in the afternoon for a solid 8 hours. He slept on the couch in our dorm lounge at least once a week. He also had library and other lounges to choose from. His tuition was paid for by ROTC scholarship, and he also was a national guardsman on one weekend a month, and all summer. He didn't date very often and rarely partied. He did go to every free concert or movie on campus. He said his full time job was to get his degree. His pay checks went into the bank. He graduated without owing a cent, with enough money to buy a home in Seattle, a reserve commission as a first lieutenant with a position waiting for him in a unit of the Washington national guard and an engineering job with a construction firm.
