Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
I will recieve holy eucharist even if i show up when the communion line has begun. It is church official. But it is true i will not recieve the indulgence from the holy mass showing up so late, and i guess best to kneel after you recieve if your just showing up in the nick of time and remain till the holy mass is finnished. An old timer threatened to knock me one when i did that once so i asked a priest what the churches official rule on it was and he told me, his name is fr popplewell and he is fssp, he also agrees with fr cappie that the church states you can leave as soon as the priest has consumed the host, you don't even have to recieve the host yourself, good in the case when you haven't been to confession and your not in a state of grace and can only recieve the indulgence from holy mass. I too would like to know what contributes to attending holy mass. I personaly would think the start of the concecration period till the end, because we all read holy scripture right? or should. But than again i think there are 3 parts of the holy mass which are considered compulsary to know by heart which if present for all 3 at least may attain the right to have being attended holy mass, these are, the agnus dei, the kyrie and the gloria. Maybe those 3 where only considered compulsary in the old latin rite, unsure of the churches stance now but perhaps a good indicator of whether you have attended mass or not, and also attending mass perhaps isn't enough, one must participate in the mass, at least these 3 parts. blazeingstar
God isn't about "counting" and getting to the Gospel, etc. You need to attend Mass once a week. Period. Now, if you're in a car accident, if something goes awry, like going to a church that didn't have Mass and needing to drive across town to the only other Mass that day...God is understanding. If you come in 30 minutes before Mass begins but spend it daydreaming about world domination and then reailze that it's the homily somehow, God is probably less understanding depending on how willfull the daydreaming was. Its just like the fast. Are you going to the 11am Mass, welll the letter of the law is to fast for an hour before communion so you'd need to stop eating at 10:30. There is a difference spiritually between stopping at Dunkins and getting a Boston Creme with a tall coffee and jamming it into your pie hole becuase you can and letting a family breakfast run late and realizing that you're licking syrup off your fingers at 10:30.
