John Ryan
My criticism of the article is that its theology draws an external separation between God and being-in-the-world. It is reminiscent of the other-worldly arguments Socrates lays down in Plato's Parmenides. Coming from my own theological predilections, I have always held to a conception of God as the immanent transcendence in the World. We cannot find God except through the Other. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Beautiful. Virginity is not just a no sex thing, love that. To not sleep with the many false gods on earth but to have one spouse, the most holy trinity, the one true GOD. God is good, God is love.
BarbTherese
My criticism of the article is that its theology draws an external separation between God and being-in-the-world. It is reminiscent of the other-worldly arguments Socrates lays down in Plato's Parmenides. Coming from my own theological predilections, I have always held to a conception of God as the immanent transcendence in the World. We cannot find God except through the Other. I like your theological predilections. Virginity to me is also about the individual embracing the whole of The Gospel in it's entirety as prime and sole objective. For me Consecrated Virginity is a witness to this call to all. We do not labour alone as orphans for Jesus remains with us in The Mass and The Sacraments - in The Holy Spirit. God, The Immanent Yet Transcendent One, is presented to us only through creation beginning with Adam and Eve and through both Old and New Testaments - but mainly through Jesus and His Church - it only seems right, logical even, therefore that we praise and worship Him, return to Him, through others and through His creation for "God looked at everything he had made, and he found it very good" (Genesis 1) Furthermore, possibly the key to the New Testament is " "You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your being, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." 28 He replied to him, "You have answered correctly; do this and you will live." 29 But because he wished to justify himself, he said to Jesus, "And who is my neighbor?" " ..........and it is worth reading on in this Chapter of Luke Ch10 http://www.vatican.va/archive/ENG0839/__PWT.HTM We know that through the sin of Adam and Eve mankind and creation are no longer in that original state in which they were created, creation and mankind are corrupted. We are called, in Jesus, to work towards that original state, or The Kingdom, for the whole of creation, made possible in Jesus. Romans Ch8: "For creation awaits with eager expectation the revelation of the children of God; 20 for creation was made subject to futility, not of its own accord but because of the one who subjected it, in hope 21 that creation itself would be set free from slavery to corruption and share in the glorious freedom of the children of God. 22 We know that all creation is groaning in labor pains even until now" (Haydock's Catholic Bible Commentary is worth a read http://haydock1859.tripod.com/id152.html ) "The whole of the human race and all of creation is oriented towards one goal: to be renewed in Christ (LG 48) and to reach completion in Him. The Scriptures point to this purpose in Christ (Acts 3:21, Eph 1:10, Col 1:20, 2 Pet 3:10-13). Christ came not for a mere handful of people who are called Christians but came for all people and the whole of creation. This renewal of all creation and the Kingdom of God has already begun in Christ (LG 48). The Church on earth is a sign of this transformation and the first fruits of the mission of Christ." http://www.cam.org.au/News-and-Events/Features/Catholic-Heritage/Article/4578/vatican-ii-the-pilgrim-church-on-earth Edited September 21, 2014 by BarbaraTherese
Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
hey there barb, peace be with you. with the whole returning to our original state my understanding of scripture is that we will never return to the garden of eden that we have a new destination since god died for us on the cross, that being the kingdom of heaven. I think i read in scripture and it actually says that we will never return to the garden of eden. And revelations states the old earth and heaven will pass away and the new earth and kingdom of heaven will come down. And yeah it is kind of like a virgin birth because god will just will it, there will be no sexual interaction in this birth of the new earth and heaven whether sexual or asexual, also reminds me of being born again of water and the spirit, earth and heaven. Which also has me leaning towards protestant understanding that we are born defective hence why we are needing a new birth, to be born again. Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
Not that i would ever wan't to defect from the holy roman catholic church hopefully, because i need the absolution of the confessional and the most precious body and blood, but some points of the protest are valid, infact all are though perhaps not all correct and i'm sure the magesterium takes into consideration all these points of protest. Onward christian souls. Edited September 28, 2014 by Tab'le De'Bah-Rye
