ChristinaTherese
I didn't look too closely, but I feel like Murray's sweatband and hair are both trying to be on top... like an opaque sweatband or something. I'm on my phone, so the pictures are small and I can't say any more. I feel stupid... I felt like you would've picked Rafa or Federer, not Murray, but for some reason he was the one stuck in my head.... And I thought you said Murray for some reason. Anyway.... Ancilla Domini
Just finished drawing Marlon Brando, but can't get a good photo. I really need to learn how to scan. XP
Spem in alium
I loved the first one. And yeeeeah David Tennant!!!!
chrysostom
I like the first one too! OK I'll nitpick if you want. Maybe it's just the photos but I didn't particularly enjoy looking at Tennant's pinstripes. The overall effect is great but those textures seemed a little coarsely drawn, however you may have intended it that way;
Ancilla Domini
I'm not inspired when I'm in the city. XP I was up in the country when I did all the above sketches, where everything was beautiful, but now that I'm back at home, sitting in my 425 ft^2 apartment on sixth avenue in NYC, I can't seem to sketch as well. humph! Ancilla Domini
Finally got a good photo of my Marlon Brando sketch! Thoughts? (Photo's not as big as I'd like it to be, but it'll suffice.) (The reason it cuts off to the left side of the paper is that I was sketching from a photograph (Duh! :P) and the photo ended there.) Ancilla Domini
I drew Audrey Hepburn. What do you think?
dUSt
I thought the first one was Michael Jackson. As far as improvement, I'd say they need more contrast. More blacks. More bold lines. When I started out drawing I used a lot of small, light handed strokes--but with more confidence I was able to create better work by using longer, heavier strokes. I think that just comes with practice and confidence that you won't have to erase anything. Haha
dUSt
I drew Audrey Hepburn. What do you think? Yes! This is exactly what I was talking about in my post above regarding your first post. Great improvement!

HopefulHeart
Nice drawing! I think you did especially well with Audrey's ear and hair.
Ancilla Domini
Thanks! I've been trying to get some more contrast in there. I tend to draw and write very lightly (my handwriting is almost airy. xP) because I don't want to "ruin" the picture; but I've been getting a bit more brave about it. Thanks for the comments! Maximilianus
More values! Try not to leave the paper untouched by the medium except for highlights. Drawing from life will help with this... as tedious as still life drawing is.
AccountDeleted
You could get a summer job doing quick sketch portraits at some holiday resort. My mother used to do them at Knott's Berry Farm and Atlantic City Boardwalk (among many others). She said it was just bread and butter money. She even did sketches of people's pets from photos. She didn't like animals as much as people (she never thought she was very good at it but people seemed to be happy with them) but she did whatever she was asked. She could never do the caricatures though just the portraits. Her medium was mainly pastels but she did some nice charcoal work too. Keep up the good work!
